Furillo Productions has unleashed They Called Him El Pollito (The Legend of the Little Chicken), a vibrant new shoot 'em up that injects a heavy dose of Spaghetti Western flair for the ZX Spectrum. Set in the lawless badlands of Bernard Valley, the game casts players as a feather-ruffling vigilante known simply as "The Chick." When the local schoolteacher and ultimate love interest, Rosita, is abruptly kidnapped, our gunslinging hero must hit the trail to rescue her. Rumours point to the notorious "Joe the Mad Miner" as the captor, but a deeper conspiracy suggests a much more powerful puppet master is pulling the strings from the shadows of this dusty frontier.
The game was built using a heavily customized version of Jonathan Cauldwell’s celebrated SEUD (Shoot-Em-Up Designer), seamlessly paired with Furillo Productions' own proprietary "ambush module" designed for the Mojon Twins’ MK1 engine. While the team behind this game has utilized some free asset libraries to flesh out environmental tiles like rocks and serpents, the core gameplay is a unique, high-energy arcade romp. For Spectrum fans looking for a fresh challenge, the stage is set, the revolver is loaded, and the fate of Bernard Valley rests entirely in your hands. As the website says "Now it's all up to you, Chick! Go get them!"
