A personal favourite of mine with many hours spent playing it on the Amstrad CPC, has appeared as a port on the Commodore Amiga from Kagesan's Sega Master System 2015 version, with the recent release of Bruce Lee. Developed for the classic Amiga OCS with just 512k of RAM by Tim Kovack, this conversion brings the beloved 8-bit hit over to Commodore’s 16-bit machine with full NTSC and PAL support. Instead of rewriting the game from scratch, the developer translated the original Master System game logic directly from Z80 assembly code to 68000 machine language. This method ensures that the core mechanics, timing, and gameplay feel identical to the console edition. When loaded up on an NTSC Amiga, the game hits a smooth 60 Hz to match the original console's velocity, while PAL region systems run the title at 50 Hz—resulting in a roughly 17% slower pace that perfectly mirrors how the game behaved on European Master System consoles.
Visually, the port utilizes the Amiga's hardware sprites in attached pairs to deliver 16-color characters that match the Master System’s original color palette. To maximize performance and work within strict hardware limitations, stationary objects like the stage lanterns are baked directly into the background scenery. Additionally, whenever more than four moving sprites attempt to occupy the same horizontal screen lines, the game automatically draws the extra objects straight into the background to prevent screen flickering. Players will notice that migrating between rooms triggers a complete screen redraw that costs a brief couple of frames. Amiga owners should also note that the software lacks an exit path to return to the Amiga Workbench GUI, meaning you will need to physically reset the machine whenever you are ready to quit playing.
