Bomberplanes - An Amiga game created in the 90's has made an appearance on itch!

The Commodore Amiga scene gets another rediscovery, as today's appearance is a game called Bomberplanes, an intense aerial shooter originally developed in 1994 by Dutch creator Bart ter Haar. A game in which he states, that not only was it created 32 years ago using SEUCK for the Amiga, but he was only 16 at the time! A version that is, in some respects, even more limited than the C64 version. Naturally, he would have done it very differently in 2026. Strike Force Omega - Urban Chaos - A fast, top‑down arcade shooter for AGA Amigas by Reborn80 is in development

The last Amiga news story from me, unless something as good as Terra Cresta comes out. As I've just found out through Saberman that Reborn80 has made available the first version of a new Amiga game called 'Strike Force Omega'. A game that the developer describes as, "a fast, top‑down arcade shooter for AGA Amigas, inspired by iconic 80s and 90s titles like Commando, Mercs, Ikari Warriors, Chaos Engine and Smash TV". If this sounds like your sort of game, then come and check it out below the latest gameplay footage from Saber!

Wings of Fear II - Could this be another hit Shoot 'em up for the Amiga by Roartj? [DEMO UPDATE]

Well, this is brilliant news, especially if you enjoyed Roartj's hit top down Shoot 'em up game called 'Wings of Fear'. As checking through my messages this evening, I was told that the same developer has recently announced he is now working on the sequel called 'Wings of Fear II' for the Commodore Amiga. While the game is in a very early stage of development however, provided below are a few new screenshots showing how good the game looks thus far and that it is now a side scroller and not top down like the prequel.

Project Horizon - An Alien blaster for the Commodore Amiga by Electric Black Sheep

Another day and another great news announcement for the Amiga scene, as we've just been informed by both Saberman and Tom, that Electric Black Sheep's previously announced in-development Amiga game called 'Project Horizon', has finally come out of development and released for you to download. Yes indeed this game that was mentioned some time ago, is an Amiga game inspired by basic shooting elements such as Commando, with a mix of Chaos Engine and a dab of Alien Breed.

Hyper Wings - Geldo79 announces the final version of this fast based Amiga space shooter! [UPDATE]

The last news story from me unless something major comes out, as the previously announced Amiga shooter of 'Hyper Wings' by Geldo79, has hit the big 2.50 with a number of improvements!  An Asteroids and Star Control mash up which was developed in ASM. To coincide with this news, while we did feature the game before, you can at least check out the full up to date details, as well as a gameplay video posted below.

Duke Nukem 3D - An updated AGA/RTG port for the Amiga by NovaCoder

Although it's rare, there are occasions when we miss out on the latest Amiga releases, which is usually because we don't get the news sent to us, or it involves a lot more than delving into the depths of a hard forum discussion. Well thankfully one of our readers has sent us a number of Amiga updates, with one of them announcing a new version of NovaCoder's Duke Nukem 3D AGA/RTG port for the Amiga.  An all time classic game originally released in the 90's for the PC and other systems.

Tombstones - Another Amiga game announcement from Docster

It was only just the other day that I mentioned right here on my website that Docster was aiming to port many of his Commodore 64 games over to the Amiga. Well, after mentioning the Amiga conversion of Fight, a game that was previously released for the Commodore 64 during the Craptastic 2020 competition, along comes Tombstones. An AMOS Professional developed game, that puts you in the boots of EL GRINGO gunning down 6 outlaws on 3 different stages!

Zorkland - A classic-style WIP arcade shooter by Amiten Games for the Commodore Amiga

It's too HOT and it's a Sunday, so I should be chilling with a nice Cider and the fan on full power! But Saberman was quick to give me the heads up on his return from holiday, about a new Commodore Amiga demo that's recently surfaced, called 'Zorkland' by Amiten Games. A classic-style arcade shooter that he says is "A lost gem from 2013, reborn in 2025!". To coincide with this news, provided below is some gameplay footage, game description and feature listing.

NeonWorld - A small shoot-em-up project for the Commodore Amiga by Cobour!

Looking through the EAB forums, we have found out that Cobour has made available the previously mentioned Shoot-em-up hobby-project for the Amiga called 'Neon World'. A game that features difficult areas to traverse, multiple enemy types, great tunes by Krzysztof Odachowski and so much more. To coincide with this news, you can see the latest footage of this enjoyable shooter provided by Saberman below.

InfeZtation - A stunning C64 arcade style run'n'gun platformer released by Monte Boyd

On the topic of games that look awesome and should be featured on Indie Retro News, is Monte Boyd's rather eye opening Commodore 64 game of 'infeZtation'. An arcade style run'n'gun scrolling platformer, that's not only getting great feedback such as "I have a strong feeling that this is going to be AWESOME" but the creator says it features stunning and unique hi-res in game graphics! To coincide with this news, we've got some more info about the game as well as a gameplay video from Saberman.

Alien Fish Finger - Check out this brilliant Amiga action platformer from 1995 which had a number of enhancements!

To be honest I've heard about most games that were released on the Amiga, especially ones that were either platformers or my personal favorite dungeon crawlers. However this game which caught our attention and worthy of a write up, was not only released in 1995 and a further enhanced update in 2011 but it's a game I've never seen before! It's 'Alien Fish Finger' by Skull Army. A game in which one person said "was not only amazing for a shareware program, but the backgrounds are artistically designed, the gore and vocal screams of the little tiny sprites are quite humorous and thus highly recommended".

Future Fighter - A little blaster released by Misfit for the Vic-20

VIC-20 owners are you feeling left out? Well worry not! As if you've got the cash, Misfit and The Future Was 8bit have announced 'Future Fighter' for the VIC-20. A new game which is not only available as a digital download, but also as a physical order through TFW8! This charming little game may not look like much, but there's plenty of fun to be had blasting waves of enemies heading your way. To coincide with this news, Saberman has provided a video showing the game in action.

Hell Tank - A chaotic blaster for the ZX Spectrum 128k by Fransouls

With the amount of awesome games we've featured this month you'd think I'd take a break, but not so! As thanks to another heads up by a good friend of ours, we've been told that Fransouls has released on itch io the rather chaotic shooter game of 'Hell Tank' for the ZX Spectrum. A game in which playing as the Hell Tank, you must blast away enemy forces such as Helicopters, Sea based transport, and even the odd flying bomber through 25 levels! To coincide with this news, provided below is a video of the game by Saberman.

Caravandalf - A super fast scrolling shooter for the Amiga AGA by Peter & Gordon Mackay

Because of the ongoing Amijam competition, we have been swamped with new Amiga games! Games such as King Arthur, The Last Dungeon and RogueCraft, are just some of the games we've mentioned this week. Well here's another Amiga game to play that you'll either enjoy or feel sick playing (It's that fast), it's Caravandalf; A Super fast scrolling shooter for the Amiga AGA by Peter & Gordon Mackay. To coincide with this news that was sent to us earlier this afternoon, Saberman has done a video of the game in action.

The Last Defender - An addictive action blaster by LC-Games for the Commodore 64

If the latest release of Cursed Tomb wasn't enough to satisfy your Commodore 64 needs, there's another game you might like to play that was released just recently, and it's LC-Games new game of 'The Last Defender' for the C64! A game in which you not only need to blast away a hostile Alien race with only your laser rifle at your disposal, but you must also keep an eye on your energy supply while avoiding missiles and floating mines that are used by the enemy as a deterrent to prevent you from freely shooting at them. To coincide with this news, there's a new video uploaded which shows the game in action.

Haunted Lands - Burial Grounds - An awesome action platformer homage to classic DOS games

It's the middle of the week and it's time for some fresh news to be announced! The first one up that comes highly recommended and has had a recent update, is Alevgor's action platformer 'Haunted Lands - Burial Grounds'. A game that isn't just a PC homage to classic DOS games such as Commander Keen, Dangerous Dave and Bio Menace, but you'll be fighting deadly demons and ghouls with a powerful shotgun at your disposal. To coincide with this news, you can check out the latest Haunted Lands: Burial Grounds trailer which is watchable below.

Shooter - Blast away enemy targets in this new ZX Spectrum game by Zeroteam

Another ZX Spectrum game has appeared this week, as we've recently been informed via Saberman through Facebook, that if you head on over to the website linked below, you can play Zeroteam's brand new ZX Spectrum game of 'Shooter'; An arcade game in which you need wipe out as many enemy targets as possible in a training camp to get a high score. In light of this news, Saberman has also done a video of this rather unique game that isn't a platformer or puzzler, something we feature a lot ;).

Guntus - A multi-system 8bit game via Inufuto is now available for the C64

If you have an Amstrad or any of the other systems mentioned below and looking for another fun game to play through the week ahead, then you may be interested to know that the previously released game of 'Guntus' by Inufuto, which appeared on the Amstrad, MSX, PC-**, MZ-*, SMC and ZX Spectrum is now available for the Commodore 64. A challenging Arcade game in which you need to kill waves of enemies in each of the many stages by blasting them to pieces.

In 1981 Williams Electronics released Defender, an all time classic multi-directional arcade shooter featuring 2D graphics as you defeat waves of aliens while protecting astronauts on the surface.
