Revive8bit has recently released The Shaft, an ambitious dystopian platformer for the Amstrad CPC that follows a low-level mechanic ascending through a strictly tiered underground society after discovering a, hidden, life-altering secret. Featuring its own Amstrad CPC physics, a 59-level climb, and a cable lasso to neutralize foes, the game focuses on navigating environmental hazards, complex, color-coded key puzzles, and managing health and lives to reach the surface of The Shaft.
Brick Blaster - A rather decent Arkanoid clone arrives on the Amstrad CPC by Issalig
It's the turn of the Amstrad CPC to get a new game, as I've been informed by XeNoMoRPH that the Arkanoid clone called 'Brick Blaster' has been released. Built using the powerful CPCtelera framework, this high-octane project delivers an upgraded take on traditional brick-breaking action. Players can look forward to navigating through 10 meticulously designed stages, culminating in an intense showdown against a custom-coded final boss that boasts its own unique artificial intelligence and defeat sequence. The game goes further for Arkanoid fans with refined physics, ultra-smooth paddle movement, and an array of game-altering power-ups. Catering to all players, the game includes three distinct difficulty settings alongside a fully automated demonstration mode where the software showcases its mechanics by playing itself.
Super Cableman - A new Amstrad game with a unique game style by TITAN
TITAN has released Super Cableman for the Amstrad CPC, a new action game born from an Amstrad.eu two-line BASIC competition that challenges players to guide a constantly moving cable through hazardous environments. Utilizing a fluid, mechanics-driven engine built on the BASIC TEST instruction to detect obstacles, the game features dynamic, evolving levels and a random cave generator for infinite replayability. Fugitif 31 - A rather unique sci-fi Amstrad game see's the light of day as a reboot!
Well this is a surprising news story for a Sunday, as there looks to have been a recovery of a game called Fugitif 31. Originally developed by Frédéric Mantegazza and his cousin Laurent Dieudonné between 1986 and 1991, the retro title is being completely rebuilt to address the main issue of the original game: The developer was noted as saying he was unable to do anything else during the raster display. Alongside this release, the creator has successfully reverse-engineered the classic game to release its historic preservation materials to the public.

There's one type of genre that I loved playing in the arcades and more so on my home console, and that is the shoot em up genre! You know the type, enemy waves coming at you at all sides, your ship blasting across the landscape with adrenaline flowing as you try to survive and wipe them out. Well there's one such game that I have fond memories of, and that was Namco's 1982 vertical scrolling arcade shoot em up game Xevious. A game that I not only played and loved back on the Amstrad CPC, but it was one of those games that I also have fond memories of playing with my dad when I was a kid. Developer Fitosoft (AdolFito) has now released a new 8-bit port of the real-time war game Armor Alley, a title that first gained acclaim on the Mac and PC in 1991 and traces its lineage back to the 1984 Apple II classic Rescue Raiders. The developer, inspired by the cleverness of the original Windows and Mac versions, set out with a clear goal: to bring the core experience of this real-time strategy like game to the CPC platform. While acknowledging the technical hurdles of the hardware, Fitosoft has successfully captured the unique essence of the original gameplay within the machine's Mode 0 capabilities.
SDO - A fast vertical shoot’em up for the Amstrad CPC by Xevimet4l
Star Defense Operation (SDO), the latest release from developer xevimet4l, is now available for the Amstrad CPC, bringing a dose of high-octane, vertical-scrolling arcade action to this 8-bit system. SDO is designed specifically for the CPC’s 4 MHz hardware to hopefully deliver a fast, smooth vertical shoot-’em-up experience, even when the screen is swarmed by alien invaders. Axis - Escape the Aliens in this new Amstrad CPC port from Geco
The Amstrad CPC library continues to grow in 2026, as developer Geco releases Axis, an escape the Aliens maze game originally created for the Videoton TV Computer (TVC). The game’s journey began with Bery (Zsolt Bertók), who wrote the original version in TRSE (Turbo Rascal Syntax Error) for a 2024 game development competition. After Geco successfully converted the title to the Enterprise, community member @XeNoMoRPH suggested a port to the Amstrad CPC. Using the TRSE-generated ASM code, Geco has now brought the experience to CPC fans.
Punch Chess - Punch your way through this new Amstrad CPC chess game from Team Moritz CPC
Team Moritz has released a new Amstrad CPC conversion of Kamaleon70's Punch Chess, originally released for the Atari VCS. Oh Mummy Resurrected! - One of my childhood Amstrad games, gets an enhancement update!
One of my favourite Amstrad games ' Oh Mummy! ' has appeared again, but not as a HD remake but this time the game has been enhanced for the Amstrad CPC. Oh Mummy! in my opinion was and still is one of the best games on the Amstrad from 1984 and published by none other than Amsoft, a well known publisher for the Amstrad computer. So you can see why I'm just that little bit excited to try out this new enhancement/remaster which has been given a further update by Chris Perver.
Pitfall II as an adaptation of the Arcade game over to the Amstrad CPC!
In 1985 Sega released the sequel of Pitfall II: The Lost Caverns for the Arcade, which in itself was based upon Activision's two home console games Pitfall! (1982) and Pitfall II: Lost Caverns (1984) for the Atari 2600. It was a scrolling platformer that also appeared in 1987 for the NES as another line up in the Pitfall series. Well fast forward to today and thanks to Saberman letting us know, we've been told that 21bloques has released an adaptation of the Arcade game over to the Amstrad CPC.
Bug's Quest 2 - A challenging platformer from YB Software for the Amstrad CPC
This year has already seen a few nice titles released for the Amstrad CPC, but here is a lovely colourful homage to the Jet Set Willy/Chuckie Egg style of game, featuring the creators very own character, Novabug. Guide his likeness across many different screens to raise enough money for the "BIG C'" research while trying not to be damaged by many of the weird creatures spread throughout the game.
Sonic GX - HOT NEWS as Sonic the Hedgehog has arrived on the Amstrad GX4000 and Amstrad Plus!
When I was a youngster I had the pleasure of playing the fantastic platformer of Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Megadrive. A game which featured a ring collecting blue hedgehog, that could spin, run, jump and roll about, at the fastest of speeds in a battle against a number of menacing enemies and the main antagonist Doctor Eggman. So why is this game getting an mention on IndieRetroNews? Well, I've just been told by Xyphoe, that Norecess and team has released the impressive Amstrad GX4000 and Plus conversion of Sonic the Hedgehog.
