Sonic The Hedgehog looks impressive on the Amiga as a tech demo by RetroRic

Well this is a bit of a shocker and one I didn't think I'd be writing up on Christmas Eve. As that legendary game character Sonic from the Sonic the Hedgehog, which appeared on multiple systems, has appeared as a pretty impressive tech demo by RetroRic for the Commodore Amiga. An almost complete level 1 of Mega Drive Sonic the Hedgehog, in both 32 colour and 16 colour versions requiring any Amiga  with 2 MB chipram! To find out more read on :)

When I was a youngster I had the pleasure of playing the fantastic platformer of Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Megadrive. A game which featured a ring collecting blue hedgehog, that could spin, run, jump and roll about, at the fastest of speeds in a battle against a number of menacing enemies and the main antagonist Doctor Eggman. So why is this game getting an mention on IndieRetroNews? Well, I've just been told by Xyphoe, that Norecess and team has released the impressive Amstrad GX4000 and Plus conversion of Sonic the Hedgehog.

PETSCII Side-Scrolling Platformer - A new game for the Commodore PET inspired by Mario and Sonic!

Jimbo is certainly no stranger to IndieRetroNews, as he is one of the only developers who has created new games for the Commodore PET. Games such as PETSCII Bros, PET Panic!, PET Space Invaders 2, TREKWAR are just some of those games that have been mentioned by us. Well here we are with another game from Jimbo, as he has released a new game called 'PETSCII Side-Scrolling Platformer'. A new game which he describes as a Commodore PET game inspired by Mario and Sonic. In the early 90's I had the pleasure of playing the great Sonic the Hedgehog on both the Sega Megadrive and the Sega Master System. Someone hold me back as I'm just too excited for this, as Christian Whitehead , Headcannon , PagodaWest Games with publishing by SEGA, have finally released the most wanted of platformers 'Sonic Mania' on Steam. Yes indeed! Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are back in an all new platforming adventure with all the rings you could possibly want as this game features unique bosses, rolling 2D landscapes, classic gameplay fun (just like the original), and yes even Mr Doctor Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik himself

Sonic Mania - New gameplay trailer with an announced August release

SEGA has released a new trailer for Sonic Mania, giving us a sneak peek at many of the new areas in the latest Sonic game developed by SEGA, Christian Whitehead, Headcannon, and PagodaWest Games. Furthermore this new footage also shows us animated drawings including the latest announced release of August 2017. Sonic Mania will feature new zones and remixed classic levels from past Sonic games, and will offer three playable characters (Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles).

Sonic the Hedgehog Time Twisted - A high grade Sonic fan game, finally gets a release!

Do we have some great retro gaming news for you, as that legendary game character Sonic from the Sonic the Hedgehog game series, which appeared on multiple systems including the Sega Master System and Sega Game Gear, has appeared in an all new high grade fan game as 'Sonic the Hedgehog Time Twisted', which has finally been released. Developed using GameMaker Studio, this latest fan game is modelled after Sonic CD, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and features a new story in which you need to collect Chaos Emerald and Time Stones to stop Metal Sonic from resurrecting his creator.

Sonic 2 ReMastered - Sonic the Hedgehog 2 enhanced on the SMS by MrCat

Released via the SHC2016 website, this remastered hack takes the original Sonic the Hedgehog 2 game from 1992 and instead has 3 all-new zones, complete with new layouts and artwork!

Sonic Adventure Land - The original Sonic that's just a bit more difficult

Developed by InsanePinkiePie, Sonic Adventure Land is an Arcade Platformer that has been recreated with an increased difficulty level and a dramatic colour change. The developer states that this latest redo features 17 stages all with the original gameplay that must be played using Fusion, which is a Sega Console Emulator.

Zool Compilation - One of Amiga's best selling Platformer, now for your PC!

If Rick Dangerous didn't wet your retro appetite, here comes another classic platforming game. A game so well received it became one of Amiga's best selling titles! Zool was intended as a rival to Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog and also hyped upon its initial release, including being bundled with the newly launched Amiga 1200.
