The news is spreading far and wide and that has come as no surprise to us, as just moments ago through our twitter page, we've found out that the publisher Dotemu with Viacom International and Tribute Games has announced the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge; an all new arcade brawler which reunites Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello and other fan favorites to kick shell in a beautifully realized pixel art world invoking the turtles’ classic 1987 design.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX - Alex Kidd in Miracle World remake is finally here! (PC,Xbox One,Switch,PS4)

In 1987 Sega released the great side-scrolling platform game ' Alex Kidd ' for the Sega Master System console. Although it was first released in Japan in 1986 but internationally in 1987, it was one of the most well known games as it was also built into most Master System II's. As such it came as no surprise to us, that when we mentioned it way back in 2018 way before IGN and other sites that this was game was being remade by Merge Games and Jankenteam, it set our twitter feed alight with excited retro gaming retweets across the globe.

Circuit Superstars - A rather cool top-down racing game gets a demo, Early Access 2021

If you're looking for something slightly different this week, other than all the platformers and puzzlers we've featured so much of on IRN, then look no further than the upcoming game 'Circuit Superstars'; a top down racing game with a current demo, that's due for release next year on Steam, which pits you against other racers as a dynamic driving system that’s simple to learn, yet deep and rewarding.. As the developer Original Fire Games says "mastering new tracks, battling wheel-to-wheel for the chequered flag, managing wear and tear, and building your pit strategy".

I am a big fan of the original indie game Cat Quest that was released back in 2017 by The Gentlebros, and now the sequel is finally here! Cat Quest is a fast paced open world action RPG that is super easy to pick up and play. It features gorgeous visuals, a great soundtrack and a lot of quests. Fans of Cat Quest won't be disappointed at the sequel as it gives you all the best things of the original game but adds new and exciting features and a new world to explore!

Blazing Chrome - Seriously cool Contra styled game gets a release!

With Odallus: The Dark Call and Oniken under their belt, the developer JoyMasher are certainly no strangers to developing a varied selection of decent retro inspired games. But now it looks as if they are about to top all of them in quality, as they have once again mentioned their seriously cool looking Contra styled game of ' Blazing Chrome ', but this time the game has finally been released on Steam, GOG PS4, Xbox and Nintendo Switch much to the excitement of the Indie and Retro community!

Whipseey and the Lost Atlas - Family friendly Kirby inspired platformer, coming soon!

Trawling through many of the games found on the Steam coming soon list, there was every chance of finding a damn fine game that not only looked charming but had a high enjoyment factor that anyone in the family could pick up and play. Thankfully one such game called ' Whipseey and the Lost Atlas' fit both of those categories. As not only could it be described as a cute Kirby platformer, but the focus in this game is to traverse through many beautifully created levels while fighting cute and cuddly enemies!

Silk - A tribute to Mike Singletons groundbreaking 1984 game The Lords of Midnight!

Many years ago when the 8-bit ruled the era, there was a game called Lords of Midnight by Mike Singleton that took the world by storm. A game that featured a ground breaking technique called landscaping to depict the lands of Midnight from a first-person perspective. It was such a grand game that even today there's a huge fan base, and as such ihobo games has launched a Kickstarter for their Lords of Midnight inspired game ' Silk '.

Crash Bandicoot - N. Sane Trilogy (Vicarious Visions Game, PS4, 2017) - Reviewed by AlanG

There is a general rule in life; you don’t mess with a classic. You are almost certainly setting yourself up to fail. Volkswagon tried with the re-launch of the ‘Mini’ and while the German version of the British classic car may be a solid vehicle and has racked up good sales, true fans of the original will say that the new car has none of the character that made it’s predecessor so revered. In recent years we have seen modern remakes of classic BBC comedies: ‘Yes Minister’ and ‘Porridge’. ‘Yes Minister’, despite being penned by the same writing team was an abhorrent mess, a complete insult to the class and quality that oozed from the original, and ‘Porridge’ (again from the pen of the original writers) while not quite as deeply unpleasant was still extremely forgettable. In a nutshell, if something has already been nailed, there is little point in trying to improve it.

Sydney Hunter and the Curse of the Mayan - Upcoming release by Collectorvision Games looks fantastic!

In the early 80's many of us had the pleasure of playing the adventure platformer 'Montezuma's Revenge' on the Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Apple II, ColecoVision, Commodore 64, IBM PC, Sega Master System and even the ZX Spectrum (as Panama Joe). It combined treasure hunting, lots of rooms, puzzle solving and deadly traps and enemies that needed to be avoided almost as if you were playing as Indiana Jones himself. But now once again we look towards a new game in that style, as Collectorvision Games has announced Sydney Hunter and the Curse of the Mayan will be coming to Nintendo Switch, Steam, XboxOne and Sony PS4 early next year!

Timespinner - A lovely platformer with retro aesthetics is launched!

Moments ago thanks to a heads up on Facebook, we have just been told Lunar Ray Games with publishing rights by Chucklefish, has now launched their eagerly awaited action platformer game ' Timespinner '  for the PC, Mac, Linux, PS4 & PS Vita. This game which has been in our wishlist for sometime now, tells a story of murder and time travel, as playing as Lunais you control time and must take revenge on the evil Lachiem Empire who has murdered her family!

While many of you followed the Kickstarter campaign for INTI CREATES CO., LTD 'Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon' which ended up as a huge success hitting an impressive $5,545,991 goal. Sydney Hunter and the Curse of the Mayan - Upcoming retrotastic release by Collectorvision Games gets a sneak peek

During the last couple of months we've been keeping you up to date with Collectorvision Games upcoming retro inspired platformer called Sydney Hunter and the Curse of the Mayan, which is going to be coming to PC, Xbox One and Switch this fall, with plans to port to the PS4 later this year. Well if you've been following this Montezuma's Revenge inspired title of epic proportions, you'll be pleased to know the company have released a sneak peak footage of the game running on the Nintendo Switch.
