This month alone we've seen some real bangers of hot news stories, from the bullet hell shooter Mega MILV for the Amiga, to the modernized remake of Ruff 'N Tumble for PC. Well, here's another one that is sure to be a big hit! As I've been informed that 'Apidya Special' by ININ Games, is not only still coming still coming to consoles and PC August 2026. But as of today, we have some exclusive gameplay footage for you from Saberman. A game that is described as, "an authentic, 24-bit pixel remake of an incredible 90's Shoot 'em up. Ruff 'n' Tumble - An incredible Amiga game comes over to modern systems

The classic 1994 Amiga action platformer Ruff 'n' Tumble has unofficially arrived on Windows and Linux, bringing the complete and incredible Amiga game to modern gaming systems. Originally developed by Wunderkind and published by Renegade Software, the acclaimed title was celebrated as one of the Amiga's premier platformers due to its rapid pace, amazing graphics, stunning animations, expansive levels, and satisfying run-and-gun gameplay. Chuckie Egg 3 - Henhouse Harry, star of ZX Spectrum classic Chuckie Egg is back via Langford Productions

OpenRCT2 project - Open-Source adaption of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 reaches v0.5.1

I'm sure many of you remember the awesome game that is RollerCoaster Tycoon 2; a game by Chris Sawyer and published by Infograms in which you manage your very own theme park, with all its rides, shops, puking guests and economic fortune. Well you'll be pleased to know that as of just recently you can download the very latest build of OpenRCT2: An open source development which improves the game even further with new features, original bug fixes, raised game limits and much more!

Torvak the Warrior - GreenSnake releases a Godot PC remake of an Amiga 16bit classic

A cult classic from the 16-bit era returns as Greensnake releases a modernised PC remake of Torvak the Warrior, a legendary barbarian rebuilt from the ground up using the Godot engine. Independent developer Greensnake has released a faithful yet significantly enhanced remake of the 1990 Amiga hack-and-slash platformer, Torvak the Warrior. Deuteros Resurrected - Strategy PC remake of a classic Amiga/Atari ST game is in the works, first milestone reached!

We haven't featured a PC remake of Ian Bird's Amiga/Atari ST Strategy game Deuteros for awhile, especially as a number of announced remakes of this classic game have been announced and then dropped never to be seen again. Thankfully it looks as if Tony Cheetham has taken to the task, as he has recently announced the first playable milestone of a new PC remake called ' Deuteros Resurrected '. An unofficial, but faithful pixel-for-pixel remake of the original Amiga game by Ian Bird

Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns - A Cinemaware classic is getting a modernized remaster via Black Tower Basement / Nordcurrent Labs

One game I remember so fondly is Cinemaware's fantastic medieval game ' Defender of the Crown ' from 1986. It was released for multiple systems including the Amiga, DOS, NES, Atari ST, Amstrad CPC, C64, Macintosh and the Apple IIGS in 1988 with a CD-i version much later on. A grand game for its time and loved by all, is going to make an appearance on modern systems with a full remaster for both PC and PS5, at some point later this year.

Turmoil & Automania - Langford Productions releases two new PC games remade from ZX Spectrum classics!

If you've been following Richard Langford of Langford Productions, you would've known that throughout our time writing on IndieRetroNews he has released a number of remakes and remasters of some well known classics that many have grow up with, games such as PSSST, Cookie, and even The Hunch. But that isn't all that has come out of Langford, as after previously releasing the retro inspired hit of REX, he has now made not one, but two PC remasters of some great speccy classics. Games such as Automania, and Turmoil.

Kaboomania - A bomberman clone is coming to the Amiga and PC, Kickstarter soon! [DEMO UPDATE]

When I was growing up there was a game I used to love playing with friends whereby your task was to drop bombs, and hopefully blow up other players in a maze like game screen. That game was none other than Bomberman also known as Dynablaster. A game which was actually first released way back in 1983 by Hudson Soft and then published by Konami. In fact the reason we are mentioning the game is at some point soon 'Axel Friedrich - Fancy Factory' will be launching a Kickstarter for Kaboomania. A Bomberman clone that is coming to the Amiga and modern systems

Rex - A 1980's 8bit classic appears as a PC remake by Langford Productions

We've certainly had some impressive games this week and when Langford Productions told us about their new platformer remake called 'REX' which was released via itch io, it was another game to add to our awesome list. You see Rex wasn't just an awesome platformer released in the late 80's for the Amstrad and ZX Spectrum, but this is a rather awesome remake that the creator says he is particularly proud of and worthy of mention on Indie Retro News. In light of this, we've got some screenshots from the game and a video soon.

Underkeep - This upcoming Dungeon Crawler by Rake in Grass looks stunning! (PC) [DEMO UPDATE]

First Person Dungeon Crawlers have a huge fan base on Indie Retro News, so many of us love games such as Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder and my personal favorite Ishar. Return to Dark Castle - An extremely challenging retro classic is getting a PC remaster!

Ask anyone who's played Dark Castle back in the 80's on systems such as an Amiga or a Mega Drive, and they'd probably tell you that it was a very frustrating platformer with one of the most annoying character controls in a classic game. But ask anyone who's played it on a Macintosh however, and it would be given high praise for sound and graphics, with some even saying they didn't know the classic monochrome Macintosh was capable of animations of such quality! Well depending on how you feel about the game, you may be interested to know that as of next month you'll be able to play 'Return to Dark Castle'.  A re-imagined retro platformer of precision, peril, and persistence — featuring every level from Dark Castle and Beyond Dark Castle plus 50 brand-new punishing rooms rebuilt for modern systems by Z Sculpt Entertainment and Ludit. 

GOBLiiNS6 - The retro classic GOBLiiiNS are back with a brand new game!

If you remember playing the comical puzzlers of Gobliiins, Gobliins 2: The Prince Buffoon, Goblins 3 and then the 3D variant of Gobliiins 4, which had its first release as Gobliiins back in the 90's. Then you are going to love this! As we have been informed that as of right now, you can download and play the latest release of GOBLiiNS6 - The Prince Buffoon - The Madmen of the Year 1000. The sequel to GOBLiiNS2, the big comeback of FINGUS and WINKLE! A "modernized" Speedball by Rebellion hits Steam

Lets go back to the 90's, a time of violent handball and ice hockey action, in which violence meets goal scoring antics that appeared in our homes on the Acorn Archimedes, Atari ST, Amiga, Amiga CD32, PC, Commodore 64, Sega Mega Drive, Sega Master System, Game Boy and even the Game Boy Advance. Yes it is none other than Speedball 2, a 1990 game developed by Bitmap Brothers as the sequel to the 1988 game Speedball. So why am I mentioning this game you might ask? Well as of just recently a modernized version of this classic can be played through Steam.

Midwinter Fan Remaster - A ground-up PC remaster of Mike Singleton's 1989 classic is in the works!

Throughout this month we've featured a number of open sourced remakes. From games such as the brilliant Transport Tycoon on the PC, to Rollercoaster Tycoon and one of my personal favorite's called Diggers.  Well thanks to a heads up via the EAB forums, it looks as if Mike Singleton's 1989 classic Midwinter is also getting a full PC remaster by DrEvil. A faithful recreation in which the creator says has blessing by Chilli Hugger (who held the remake rights).

Diggers - This PC fan-remake of a classic strategy and puzzle like Amiga/DOS game looks fantastic

Well this is fantastic news especially if you had either an Amiga or PC(DOS), as Mhatxotic is working on a remake of the classic strategy and puzzle-like game called 'Diggers'. A 90's title that was developed and published by Millennium Interactive for the Amiga and PC. A game in which the player takes control of a mining team excavating a planet for precious minerals. To coincide with this news, of which I'm excited to try out later, the developer has provided the full details below.
