How about this for an incredible mid-week heads up, as Westwood’s legendary 1992 RTS masterpiece is unofficially invading the 8-bit era with Dune 2 - The C64 Demake - Arok Edition by Primal. This jaw-dropping project brings the iconic desert warfare to the Commodore 64, boasting a smooth four-direction scrolling battlefield, rich multicolor graphics utilizing clever single-sprite trickery, and support for 64 total units and buildings with zero limits on how many troops can flood the screen at once.
Dune II: The Building of A Remaster - Development of a new Amiga AGA and OCS version by Westwood's Robert Koon!
I'm sure many of you remember Dune II, one of the greatest RTS games of our time, an all time classic developed by one of the greatest developers Westwood, which was released for the Amiga, MS-DOS and a later release on the Sega Megadrive in 93. Well if you do remember it ( more specifically the Amiga version ), then at some point Robert Koon, who was part of the original Dune 2 team at Westwood, will be releasing a new Amiga AGA and OCS remaster. A new version of the game which is sure to excite many in the Amiga community.
Dune II: The Battle for Arrakis has been partially ported over to the ZX Spectrum! (100% Working!)
Call me an old timer but I love talking about the days of DOS, a time when the only thing in front of you other than a computer was a blinking command prompt waiting for you to run a game such as C:\, C:\Dune and Dune.exe. So to get a Facebook message from Saberman, that Dune II from 1992 by Westwood Studios was partially ported over to the ZX Spectrum with the intro, speech, and yes even the gigantic sandworm intact, I just had to give it a worthy mention on IRN.
Dune II - An incredible RTS classic comes to Amiga CD32
The next game for the Earok Amiga CD32 conversion is the very famous Dune II, an amazing RTS classic from Westwood, one of the best companies of my generation. Dune II became the defining genre of complexity and innovation, a huge success and laid the foundation for Command & Conquer, and many other RTS games to come. Play as a commander of one of the three interplanetary houses, the Atreides, the Harkonnen or the Ordos, and gain ultimate control of the spice of the planet Arrakis. Build bases, harvest spice and command your units in one of the best RTS games ever released.
Compilation Dune Duology - Dune & Dune II, two amazing Amiga classics now PC Playable!
Game Type : Adventure, RTS
Games in Compilation : Dune, Dune II: The Battle For Arrakis
Launcher Developer : The Company.pl
Game Info : The Company.pl has once again released another set of Amiga classics and this time it's none other than Dune & Dune II. Whereas Dune by Cyro is a 1992 Adventure/Strategy video game, based upon Frank Herbert's science fiction novel - Dune II: is based upon David Lynch's 1984 movie Dune and is an RTS released in 92-93. Although in both games you are tasked to mine the spice from the desert planet Arrakis, in the first game it is far more Adventure based in the fact you talk to people, hire allies and defeat the Harkonnen. The second game has far more dominance in our minds as it was one of the greatest RTS games ever released and developed by a very famous company, Westwood. Dune II established the format that would be followed for years to come and laid the foundation for many great games such as the Command & Conquer series. Your task in the second game unlike the first is to deliver the most spice for Emperor Frederick IV and pay off his debts, but be warned as you are up against the Atreides, Harkonnen, and Ordos (depending on who you play). Build bases, harvest the most spice, defeat the enemy and claim the planet as your own, a planet full of spice! Now thanks to The Company.pl you can play these amazing Amiga classics on your PC.
