Games 101 - Epic Retro Game Compilations

I while back, I produced a video celebration of the Amstrad CPC called The 464 Project. It was a popular video and so I have adapted the long-view format to suit a whole range of video gaming genres and topics. Games 101 is that series, and the first show looks at the long history of arcade shoot 'em ups. 101 games in 101 minutes. Enjoy.

Aaron White's Paperboy C64 tribute as a bonus release for your Amiga!

Aaron White is back with another musical compilation for your Amiga, and this time it's none other than the Paperboy C64 tribute which has been given the usual top quality conversion! Unlike the previous release, this one is a bonus disk and features just three tracks from the incredible arcade C64 port of Paperboy which was released in the 80's. Current tracks include Paperboy Main Theme, Paperboy Bonus Stage and Paperboy High Score. Hopefully this is just a taster of what's to come as there hasn't been a single release that I haven't enjoyed.

So head on over to our personal download site and grab that ADF file!

FireFlower Games Retro Bundle - Awesome retro games for an awesome price!

FireFlower Games have just given me the heads up that they have released a great retro bundle for a damn fine price. Sure enough this bundle is one to impress for the retro gamers and new gamers alike. It features the Gobliiins Trilogy, with a unique style, fantasy and humor combined. Little Big Adventure 1-2, which is a pretty famous Adventure title mixed with action through Twinsen's story. Raiden Legacy, featuring a compilation of the best in shoot em ups, with Raiden Fighters, Raiden Fighters 2 and Raiden Fights Jet included. Finally another epic shoot em up in the bundle - Raptor, a dos/windows based game that has a pretty large fanbase and sufficed to say is just damn brilliant.

Compilation Dune Duology - Dune & Dune II, two amazing Amiga classics now PC Playable!

Game Type : Adventure, RTS
Games in Compilation : Dune, Dune II: The Battle For Arrakis
Launcher Developer :  The Company.pl
Game Info  : The Company.pl has once again released another set of Amiga classics and this time it's none other than Dune & Dune II. Whereas Dune by Cyro is a 1992 Adventure/Strategy video game, based upon Frank Herbert's science fiction novel - Dune II: is based upon David Lynch's 1984 movie Dune and is an RTS released in 92-93Although in both games you are tasked to mine the spice from the desert planet Arrakis, in the first game it is far more Adventure based in the fact you talk to people, hire allies and defeat the Harkonnen. The second game has far more dominance in our minds as it was one of the greatest RTS games ever released and developed by a very famous company, Westwood. Dune II established the format that would be followed for years to come and laid the foundation for many great games such as the Command & Conquer series. Your task in the second game unlike the first is to deliver the most spice for Emperor Frederick IV and pay off his debts, but be warned as you are up against the Atreides, Harkonnen, and Ordos (depending on who you play). Build bases, harvest the most spice, defeat the enemy and claim the planet as your own, a planet full of spice!  Now thanks to The Company.pl you can play these amazing Amiga classics on your PC.

Lets go #FlappyJam crazy, with a FlappyJam compilation!

Say hello to probably one of the most rage worthy game experiences of 2014, a game so frustrating you'll not just be tapping but probably punching the screen in frustration. Yet it's incredibly addictive! And thanks to #FlappyJam Indie developers have come together to show their support for the Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen and produce their own Flappy-inspired games. All you have to do in these free games is try to get your character between the pipes by simply tapping the button, but I'll warn you now, it isn't easy.  So lets take a look at the list

Abandoned Places compilation - An Amiga dungeon crawler series set above and below ground (PC playable!)

Game Type : Dungeon Crawler RPG
Amiga Launcher Developer : The Company.pl
Original Developer : ArtGame
Compilation : Abandoned Places 1 & 2
Game Info : Over the last few weeks I've had the pleasure of beta testing the new The Company.pl release of Abandoned Places 1 & 2 from 1992/93, which includes cheat trainers. This series may not be as good as Dungeon Master or even Eye of the Beholder but it does include both above and below ground areas of combat and exploration. I also liked the fact that your characters can starve and need food, you can also visit towns and locations on the world map. Two good games, however AB2 was more of a let down over 1, with the first dungeon in AB2 being extremely tedious to get out of and didn't rate highly in retro reviews either. Also not much in the way of stat development and no auto-map. But enough about that, if you want to explore different dungeons, secret areas, find loot and fight enemies in a grid based system, then check out these two games re-released for the PC in a single exe!

#CandyJam Compilation! - Lots of free games that might get sued by the King! ;)

Welcome to #CandyJam which was created to protest trademark trolling and absurd trademark laws.  Especially King with it's trademarking of the word CANDY, which has angered many a gamer! All of these games in the #CandyJam include "candy" in the title. They can also include words such as  "saga", "scroll", "edge", "memory", and "apple", words that have also caused the odd battle with trademark issues. Some of the games listed are pretty good, so check out the interesting games below and play for FREE!

Compilation Turrican Trilogy - A historic Platform Shooter series, free! (Pc Playable)

Game Type : Action, Platformer, Shooter
Amiga Launcher Developer : The Company.pl
Original Amiga Developer : Factor 5(Amiga)
Game Info : Welcome to an all time classic game, a historic game if you will. A game that is set in the heart of millions of Retro fans across the world. Welcome to Turrican, which was originally programmed and designed by Manfred Trenz (1989/90). It also first came out on the C64, and then appeared on a multitude of systems under different developers, such as, Factor 5(Amiga). You are Turrican, a warrior, bio-engineered for the task of planetary reclamation. To return to The lost colony of Alterra and defeat the MORGUL while fighting it's many hostile creatures. This series of games had the most awesome of sound tracks by Chris Hülsbeck, which are still being remixed today. It also had, not just brilliant action based shooting (with a weapon that fired in different ways), but also some of the best looking platform scenery. I won't go into to much detail in this, as if I get it wrong, I'll be linched by the many Turrican fans! Suffice to say, you just have to play it. What's more, this isn't just the first Turrican for you to try, but Turrican 2 and Turrican 3. Thanks to The Company.pl the Amiga version has been released/updated to version 2.6 so you can now play this on your PC with higher graphical filters

Amiga Music: Daxx Compilation ( Earth shattering music list! )

I've listened to some pretty intense tunes in my time, from many different artists using the Amiga or other classic systems, including the C64. But Daxx takes it to a new level, I'd class him as a leader amongst the retro remix music industry. So here it is, this is the Daxx Compilation, using the ProTracker 3.61 on the Amiga. Be warned though, if Techno, Trance, Hardstyle is not your thing then look away now. However he has alot of great Amiga game remixes under his music belt as well! So put your headphones on or your speakers at full blast, it's time to go mental!
