Princess Amelia - A charming yet challenging platformer for the Commodore 64 by BARKAMI (Work in Progress)


Another exciting new homebrew project is heading to the Commodore 64, marking a developer's triumphant return to game creation after more than three decades. Princess Amelia is an upcoming single screen platformer that challenges players to guide the titular royalty through a frantic, vertical castle ascent. In this upcoming game from BARKAMI, players must help Princess Amelia scale 20 challenging floors of her castle. The core mission is to track down and collect scattered "Letter Shields" that spell out her name.

Super Trevor Land - A retro-inspired isometric platformer from A500Fan for ARM64 & AmigaOS4

AmigaOS 4 community developer A500 fan has released Super Trevor Land, a tongue-in-cheek isometric platformer that transforms the community's real-world hardware struggles into a vibrant, retro-inspired game. Super Trevor Land focuses on the ecosystem’s long-standing hardware deficit. In the fictionalized game world, next-generation PowerPC (PPC) Amiga systems sit completely idle, waiting for the essential mainboards required to make them functional. Without this vital physical hardware, the future of the platform remains nothing more than an unfulfilled dream.

Cyber Wraith - Another fantastic speccy game makes an appearance

If you're feeling glum and want some fresh news for a Thursday, then we have just found out that sisko_MSX has officially launched Cyber Wraith, an intense new sci-fi action title for the ZX Spectrum. The game drops players into a desperate sci-fi nightmare. The distant planet NOIRYS-9 has completely fallen to a hostile invasion of malicious mechanical constructs. Every local facility and outpost is now locked down under the iron fist of the Great Cyber, a ruthless artificial intelligence that has physically reshaped the entire celestial body into a sprawling, metallic bastion.

Solseed: Journey to Spring - A brand new retro adventure for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K by marinovic

Solseed: Journey to Spring is a brand-new retro release by developer marinovic, delivering yet another platformer experience designed specifically for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K. Players will not only navigate a series of classic, screen-by-screen challenges that capture the true essence of vintage 1980s gaming! But there's themed areas such as deep winter woodlands, a heavy snow forest, and melting fields, 24 rooms filled with environmental dangers, secrets, and branching paths, aggressive enemies, and so so much more!

Black Tiger - Capcom's brilliant 1987 platformer is coming to the Sega Mega Drive

The classic 1987 Capcom arcade masterpiece Black Tiger is finally making its way to the Sega Mega Drive, thanks to an ambitious new homebrew development project powered by Earok’s Scorpion Engine and developed by Monster Bath Games Inc. The upcoming 16-bit port aims to give the legendary dark-fantasy platformer the definitive home console release it never received during the retro era. This game did receive home versions however, for the Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari ST, and MSX, it was never officially ported to the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, Super Nintendo, or PC Engine. 

Vault of Seraphim XL - A Spelunker inspiration released for the C64 by Natthrafn [UPDATE! Now for MacOS, Windows & Linux]

Go-Go BunnyGun wasn't the only decent game to make an appearance today, although that was for the ZX Spectrum, is Natthrafn's new Commodore 64 platformer called 'Vault of Seraphim'. A game described by the developer as, "a jump & run cave crawler like his predecessor  'Catacombs of Cherubim', but with four entire new caves and a complete new player movement!" Dantalion - A flip screen platformer for the C64 by Eleanor Burns

Another retro title has landed on the Commodore 64 scene as the The New Dimension (TND) website hosts the exclusive debut of Dantalion, a dark fantasy platform puzzler by Eleanor Burns. The game was originally developed alongside another title for a special Scene World magazine cover tape. Because that physical tape release has encountered delays and has not yet made its way to the public, the development team received official clearance to bypass the wait and launch the digital files directly online via TND.

BLINDWALKER - A new retro puzzle-platformer for the ZX Spectrum by Ariel Endaraues

Another ZX Spectrum game has appeared and it's Ariel Endaraues' latest masterpiece, BLINDWALKER, a game which secured the prestigious Best Technological Development Award at Retro Game Dev 2026. Organized by Espacio Tec, the international tournament challenged developers to push 8-bit hardware to its limits, and Blindwalker stood out as a technical marvel on the ZX Spectrum. To coincide with this new game for the speccy, Saberman has done a video showing the game in action.

Radioactive Ralph - A Manic Miner-like ZX Spectrum clone that's well worth checking out!

Following a highly successful physical release that even features gorgeous artwork on the tape itself, the latest ZX Spectrum title, Radioactive Ralph, is now available as a digital download via SimonAllan.itch.io. For those that have played the game already, have said it is a high-quality Manic Miner clone, but with a modern twist. While the game features some of the classic flickering sprites familiar to Speccy fans, it compensates with noticeably faster animations and impressive static graphics. The audio, crafted by the KUVO team, has also been singled out as a highlight of the experience.

Bloodstone - This new ZX Spectrum 128k game published by ZXOnline looks gorgeous!

The ZX Spectrum homebrew scene is buzzing as publisher ZXOnline has now launched their visually stunning new title, Bloodstone. Designed exclusively for the 128k Spectrum, this platformer is already drawing praise for its high-quality visuals and atmospheric storytelling. Early gameplay trailers suggested that Bloodstone will push the 128k ZX Spectrum to its limits, offering a level of polish that stands out even in the vibrant modern Speccy development community. Modern mechanics have met classic 8bit hardware in the latest homebrew release for the Commodore VIC-20 as developer lance.ewing has officially released VVVVIC, a near faithful 8-bit port of Markus "Notch" Persson’s 2010 Java4K hit, VVVV. While VVVV was originally designed as a "demake" tribute to Terry Cavanagh’s legendary VVVVVV, this new iteration brings the gravity-flipping formula to the Commodore VIC-20 for the first time.

The Tower Of Ochate - A new puzzle platformer for the ZX Spectrum by FlunkyRetro that's worth a play!

The Atari Jaguar wasn't the only system to see a decent game release this week, as retro gaming developer FlunkyRetro has just unleashed a haunting new challenge for the ZX Spectrum titled THE TOWER OF OCHATE. Built on the versatile MPAGD engine, this title invites players to step into the shoes of a paranormal investigator trapped within the most infamous enclave of northern Spain. Rocketman - A high quality new action platform game for the MSX1 (64K) has been announced via Renovatio

Retro gamers have a new reason to dust off their MSX hardware as the physical edition of Rocketman will land on the MSX this June. This handcrafted release is a love letter to the 8-bit community, featuring a cover illustrated by the legendary Ángel Luis Sánchez, whose iconic artwork defined the golden age of Spanish software. The game follows the journey of Major Tom, a seasoned veteran of the Jet Force Space Army. While investigating a mysterious orbital phenomenon for Ground Control, Tom is swallowed by a Dimensional Vortex. He awakens in a distorted parallel reality with a shattered ship—missing its engines, fuel, and generators. Players must help Tom navigate five "impossible" worlds, each guarded by hostile creatures and formidable bosses. To escape this reality and return to his wife on Earth, Tom must rebuild his rocket piece by piece.

Wee Ninja - A great Mario style platformer for the Atari XL/XE and 5200 by Playsoft

Playsoft have released a number of games over the years, from Blowsub on the Atari 5200, to the Atari 8bit hack of Donkey Kong by Darryl1970. Well it's time for the Atari 5200 to get a new game announcement, as Playsoft has released the eagerly awaited high quality Mario styled platformer of 'Wee Ninja'. A game in which your character can headbutt blocks, collect power ups and even throw ninja death squares at enemies. To coincide with this news, provided below is the latest footage by Saberman.

Celeste - Rage inducing platformer for the Amiga by Paweł Juen Nowak

Developer Paweł Juen Nowak has began porting the challenging Pico8 platformer Celeste to the Commodore Amiga, designed to display using C2P techniques which necessitate a higher-powered processor for smooth gameplay. While running well on a 50MHz 060, the port requires feedback from users on various configurations to determine optimal performance, particularly for the provided fast version using frame skipping. Download the port and share testing results to help optimize this demanding Amiga title.

Isa Brave: Underworld keys - Great graphics but very challenging gameplay in this new MSX game from Tom Martin

MSXdev25 Ends with a Bang: Tom Martin Unveils ‘Isa Brave: Underworld Keys’. The marathon MSXdev25 competition has officially reached its closing stages, and it’s going out on a high note. The 50th and final(?) entry of this year’s incredible run is Isa Brave, a punishingly polished Arcade game developed by Tom Martin for the MSX. A game in which the MSX competition says "Do not let the cheerful tune and cute graphics trick you, this is a really hard game, as we had a few this year that homage the 80s on the skill required from the player to complete them. Glory and treasure awaits in the underworld for those that have the will to take them."

Calebe Adventure - A new 2D platformer released for the MSX by Paulo Pereira Gonçalves & Calebe Rodrigues Gonçalves

Recovering the Past: "Caleb Adventure" Brings Retro Heroism to the MSX! Retro gaming fans have a new mission: infiltrate the castle of Baron Buuu-hahaha and reclaim a stolen legacy. In the newly released title Caleb Adventure, players step into the shoes of a hero on a deeply personal quest. The villainous Baron Buuu-hahaha has absconded with Paulo’s prized MSX cartridge collection, hiding the loot deep within his Castle. It is up to you to navigate the treacherous halls and recover the stolen hardware. 

Crystian and the lost crystals - This upcoming C64 game by Marcel Sásik looks fantastic

Fat Tarzan wasn't the only eye opening Commodore 64 game to be teased this month, as thanks to a heads up by the developer, we've been told that Marcel Sásik is working on a rather incredible looking Commodore 64 game called ' Crystian and the lost crystals '. A game in which you play as Crystian, and must traverse highly detailed underground areas avoiding dangerous enemies, while also collecting coins and looking for a special crystal. To coincide with this tease, the developer has posted the latest dev notes below the video.
