The legendary 1980's beat-’em-up franchise has been reimagined in the form of Double Dragons, an ambitious new PC release designed as an alternate-history sequel to the series’ first two mainline entries. Billed as a love letter to original creator Yoshihisa Kishimoto, this championship-edition brawler imagines an alternate timeline where Japan's Technosoft stepped up to challenge Capcom’s Final Fight crown. Treating the original games as post-apocalyptic New York folklore, this instalment promises a definitive, untold story line, complete with a proper conclusion and a sharp twist ending. Alongside upgraded pixel art and quality-of-life gameplay enhancements, the title features an expansive campaign spanning 6 major missions and 14 distinct levels, packed with more weapons, bosses, and enemy variants than ever before.
Double Dragon - A near Arcade-like experience of a classic via JOTD for the Amiga AGA [BETA UPDATE]
This week just gets better and better as another game has hit our news feeds and it's none other than Double Dragon for the Amiga, but as an AGA edition. First released way back in the 80's by Taito Corporation, Double Dragon in the Arcades was a fantastic beat 'em up game that featured high grade fighting two player fun on many different systems such as the Amstrad, Amiga and C64. But now thanks to JOTD, he is working on bringing the Amiga version more in line with the Arcade. In fact one person even said "I honestly thought that the original was the worst home conversion that could possibly exist."

Double Dragon - A proper version of a classic game coming to the C64!
Even to this day, if you ask someone what they thought of Double Dragon, and they'd probably tell you of an awesome beat em up game released in 1987, that gave you the option to play two twin martial artists who could kick, punch and throw enemies off scene through many different levels. Well if you had this game on pretty much every system going but felt the C64 version was awful, well happy days as it looks as if Majikeyric of Hokuto Force is working on his own proper version of that classic game.
Return of Double Dragon - Superior Japanese version of Super Double Dragon gets a Cart release
Super Double Dragon on SNES was definitely a hit but never considered a classic like the original. Maybe if the superior Japanese version hadn't been butchered on release in the west it might have been. Thankfully the people at Retroism are releasing Return of Double Dragon on NTSC cartridge. Join me as I recap on why Return of Double Dragon was so good, and why Tradewest are a bunch of shysters.
Double Dragon - Beat em up enhanced for the Atari 7800
In 1987-1988 a fantastic beat 'em up video game developed by TechnÅs Japan and distributed in North America and Europe by Taito was to take centre stage with two-player cooperative gameplay and the ability to use weapons from disarmed enemies. ' Double Dragon ' as it was titled, was one of the greatest beat em ups I've ever played on the Amiga, and it would probably come as a surprise that it was also ported over to a vast array of other systems. Today's news is the latest update release for KevinMos3's enhanced edition of Double Dragon, but for the Atari 78000 which brings it more in line with the Arcade original.
