Axis - Escape the Aliens in this new Amstrad CPC port from Geco

The Amstrad CPC library continues to grow in 2026, as developer Geco releases Axis, an escape the Aliens maze game originally created for the Videoton TV Computer (TVC). The game’s journey began with Bery (Zsolt Bertók), who wrote the original version in TRSE (Turbo Rascal Syntax Error) for a 2024 game development competition. After Geco successfully converted the title to the Enterprise, community member @XeNoMoRPH suggested a port to the Amstrad CPC. Using the TRSE-generated ASM code, Geco has now brought the experience to CPC fans.

Here's the latest. "Axis was written to Videoton TV Computer to 2024 game dev compo by Bery (Zsolt Bertók), the game was written in TRSE, I got all stuff to perform Enterprise conversion including a TRSE generated ASM code also, after i finished the conversion @XeNoMoRPH asked if it could be ported to CPC also, so this is the result. Some stuffs were changed , and some were removed, because of the 2 computers are similar, but TVC have raster interrupts. Both computer has a z80, just TVC runs on 3.125 MHz, both has CRTC with the same modes, just TVC has only 15 colours (2 blacks :D ), and the biggest cut down, TVC's have only 16 KB Video Memory (except the + models which had 64KB), and a 1 channel, square wave only audio."

Changes:
  • - Small lights are flashing (where there is no red card, or door)
  • - exit arrow changes it's colour
  • - Commodore +4 music has been added (unfortunately AY does not have low fequency noises, the music can be turned off by F1)
  • - the game speed is increasing 3 times after the player completed the game, after it is reseted to the default.
Removed:
  • - Alien voice samples during playback, unfortunately CPC does not have high frequency interrupt option, and the sample playback held the game too long, that's why i decided to remove them
  • - Open door sample was removed, and was substituted by an AY rendition of opening door.
