Renowned homebrew developer HooGames2017, the creation behind brilliant Commodore Amiga titles like ARC4NERD, Dr. Dangerous, and Phantom Leap, has officially pulled back the curtain on their latest Scorpion Engine developed project, Lost in the Middle Ages. The upcoming adventure transports players into a classic medieval setting with an intriguing premise. According to the developer, the plot kicks off when a mysterious outsider is discovered in a local village and brought directly before the king. Far from being surprised, the monarch reveals he had long anticipated the arrival of this very stranger, prophesied to become the kingdom's ultimate saviour.
On the gameplay front, players can look forward to traditional progression mechanics where defeating foes and gathering various items yields experience points to help power up the hero. While the final scope of the project remains ever changing, five complete stages have been built so far, each packed with hidden areas and secrets. Drawing direct inspiration from the classic gameplay of Wonder Boy, exploration will be a major component of the experience, explicitly allowing players to wander inside local houses to uncover tucked-away rewards. Because the game is actively in development, HooGames2017 notes that a final level count has not yet been set as they continue to expand the medieval world.
