Sometime back I gave you the heads up about a new alpha demo of 'Rastan' that was made available by basementApe for the Commodore Amiga. Well fast forward to today and if you're hoping for some new updates in regards to this Arcade development using Earok's excellent scorpion engine, then make sure to check out the latest gameplay video. A new video to go along side a new demo, which features new stages, retouched enemies and so so much more.
Wardner - Toaplan/Taito's Arcade game gets a Commodore Amiga level 3 Demo via RetroRic
Fresh off the press for the Commodore Amiga community, as not only is the 1987 Arcade game of 'Wardner' still coming to the Amiga via RetroRic, developed using Earok's Scorpion Engine. But as of today you can download a new level 3 demo. If you've not heard of this game before, it's a side-scrolling platformer developed by Toaplan and published in arcades worldwide by Taito in 1987. A game in which you play as Dover on a journey to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend Mia from the evil warlock. In light of this news, we've got some new footage of the game below.
Pooperino - A single screen platformer for the Amiga by Tedzogh
Want to play a new game that is getting positive feedback such as this from @AmigaFanatic1980 "Nice looking platformer with good artwork and use of I am assuming 16 colours?". Then come and check out Tedzogh's new single screen platformer called 'Pooperino' for the Commodore Amiga. A Scorpion Engine developed game that can be seen being played in this footage provided by Saberman below.
Halo Zero (Unofficial remake - Amiga/MD/NeoGeoCD) by Earok gets a preview build!
Here's another banger of a news story especially if you were a fan of the Halo games, as thanks to a heads up by Earok, developer of the Scorpion Engine, he has announced a preview download of 'Halo Zero'. An unofficial fan port of a classic fan game, which in turn was inspired by the series created by Bungie. In light of this news which was a bit of a surprise considering that I'm slowly finishing this bottle of bubbly ;), provided below is some screenshots and a video soon from Saberman.
Streets of Rage - An experimental tease of Streets of Rage 1 by Monoz for the Amiga
Could this November get any better? Oh yes it has! As we have just been informed via Saberman through Facebook that you can now download the latest Scorpion Engine developed experimental build of 'Streets of Rage ' for the Commodore Amiga. A downloadable build of the incredible fighting brawler that was originally released back in 1991 that spawned multiple sequels including Streets of Rage 2, Streets of Rage 3 and yes even the modern variant of Streets of Rage 4.
Fight - A new Arcade game from Docster for the Amiga [UPDATE]
For those of you interested in the latest news for the Commodore Amiga, will be interested to know that Docster has released the full version of a new game called 'Fight'. For those of you who don't remember this game when it was featured some time ago on Indie Retro News. It was previously released for the Commodore 64 during the Craptastic 2020 competition. This version is one of many games that will be ported over to the Amiga, and developed in most part, using Earok's Scorpion Engine.
Rex and the Galactic Plague - A new homebrew blaster for the Commodore Amiga by Hoyster Games!

We've recently found out through Facebook, that HooGames2017, is not only still working on the gorgeous looking Scorpion Engine developed game of 'Phantom Leap', but as of today a new 1.6 version has been shown off in Saber's latest gameplay footage. A platformer that is set deep within moss-covered ruins and ancient trees, as you must uncover the mysteries that lie within..... Will you find hidden treasures and untold secrets, or will you succumb to its countless dangers?
Rex and the Galactic Plague - A teased blaster for the Commodore Amiga by Hoyster Games [Final Demo]
Another Scorpion Engine game has appeared, as looking through the Commodore Amiga Facebook group, I've come across a new demo update for the arcade shooter called 'Rex and the Galactic Plague' by Hoyster Games, with music by Matt McGuire. There are many different ways to create Amiga games, either through Amos, Blitz Basic, RedPill or through Backbone. But one such game engine has become the highlight of every new Amiga game feature on Indie Retro News, and that's Earok's amazing Scorpion Engine; a constantly updated piece of software that gives developers the tools to create graphically impressive games, running at decent frame rates even on the lowest spec'd Amigas.
An unofficial and unfinished demo bonanza for the Amiga via Scorpion Engine
A rather interesting news story for you all, as looking through the EAB forums for some games to talk about, and we've found out through Earok, who created the Scorpion Engine, that he has made available a basket full of unofficial and unfinished demo projects for the Commodore Amiga. Although he does state while they can be downloaded, aren't really intended to be played! Well that hasn't stopped us, as here's the latest videos and further details from Earok below.
Forest of Illusion - Mickey is still coming to the Commodore Amiga CD32/1200 and it still looks awesome! [UPDATE]
If you remember playing Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion or Mickey Mania back in the day, especially on consoles such as the Sega Mega Drive, then you are going to love this latest news story . As we have found out that DomKid, who is behind games such as the Castlevania fan game of Maria Renard's Revenge. Is still working on the new game of 'Forest of Illusion' via the Scorpion Engine. As in his words "new game inspired by the Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion and Mickey Mania series, some improvements and additions to the Ansimuz graphic art". Bunnito's Feast - Check out this charming Commodore Amiga (AGA) game by captain-ts
Looking to play a charming and family friendly game over the weekend, then this game by Captain-ts might just the game for you! It's Bunnito's Feast' for the Commodore Amiga (AGA). A game in which playing as a cute Bunny that has escaped his cage, you must traverse dangerous landscapes while finding food along the way, to hopefully find your way home. To coincide with this news, we've got a brief description about this Scorpion Engine developed game as well as a gameplay video from Saberman.
The Lost Vikings 2 Amiga - 1997 SNES game by Interplay could be coming to the Amiga (AGA)
Even more Amiga news for you all, as we've recently come across a post by Earok via Facebook, that the SNES version of the game 'The Lost Vikings 2' published by Interplay Productions, could be coming to the Commodore Amiga AGA using the Scorpion Engine. Although when I asked him if this was 100% certified he said, "Started experimenting with Lost Vikings 2 SNES assets with the view to port to AGA Amiga" and "I can't 100% verify, but the plan is to release something with it eventually (if not the whole game, at least the first few levels as a "demo")". So yes there's a chance it may never come to be, but there's still hope!
Jump 'n Bump - Multiplayer mayhem with Cute bunnies in this WIP Commodore Amiga OCS game!
It wasn't long ago now that we gave you the heads up, that the 1998 game of ' Jump 'n Bump ', which was released for MS-DOS and as a later remastered version, was coming to the Commodore Amiga, by none other than Earok of the Scorpion Engine. Well if you've been waiting for more news on this game, we are pleased to tell you that as of today, you can try out the latest beta version that essentially contains the core feature set from the original game. Although the creator does state , it hasn't been well tested yet so there may be bugs yet to be found or fixed.
Jump 'n Bump - Cute bunnies battling it out in this teased Commodore Amiga OCS and Sega Mega Drive game! [Alpha Available]
Titled as ' Jump 'n Bump ', this game was originally released for free by Brainchild Design in 1998 for MS-DOS. It supported 4 players and was about bunnies crushing each other to death to get the highest score. So why are we mentioning this now? Well not only was the game released some time ago as a remastered version for modern systems by Domarius Games(link). But at some point in the near future, Earok will be porting the game over to the Commodore Amiga and Sega Mega Drive via the Scorpion Engine.
Aeon's Legend - An OLD Amiga demo level to show the progress and game features of the Scorpion Engine
The Amiga news just keeps on coming, as we've just been told by our good friend Saberman, that at some point during September 2023 the Whatiff Amiga magazine provided a BitBeam Cannon Demo of 'Aeon's Legend': a demo level to show the progress and game features of the Scorpion Engine, which was provided as a cover disk from the September issue, and can be downloaded below. To coincide with this news, Saberman has also provided some footage of the level.
Shadow Dancer - A 1989/91 game released for the Amiga is getting an Mega Drive to Amiga port! [New Video]
As we said before, while many of you have played Shadow Dancer on the Amiga, some of you felt while the game was fun, it was lacking in graphics, noting by many as having an Atari ST colour-palette and no Parallax. Well one such user is hoping to change that negative view, as msmalik681 has shown a project for a Mega Drive to Amiga port of Shadow Dancer using the Scorpion Engine. A new version of the game which the creator states "The megadrive version was the same game re-imagined and it was much better then the original arcade game. I played this game to death when I was younger and I loved it".

Lemming880 has been mentioned a number of times on Indie Retro News, as he has released a number of enjoyable games such as Boxx, Boxx 2, Boxx 3 and even Boxx 4. Well here with another Amiga news story from the same creator, as he has released another load of updates to each of those games we have mentioned previously. Games that were originally created in Backbone and have all been ported over to Earok's excellent Scorpion Engine using graphics by Koyot1222.
