General of Panzers - An AI hex-based World War II strategy game for the Amiga 1200 (AGA)

A new game for the Amiga albeit done with AI, is Fliegeralarm's latest Commodore AGA title called General of Panzers. Drawing heavy inspiration from the legendary Panzer General series, General of Panzers is a strategic, turn-based World War II simulation built from scratch. Operating on a detailed hex grid with separate ground and air layers, players command an array of authentic historical units—including infantry, armor, paratroopers, and warships—across iconic battlefields from 1939 to 1943. The newly launched version 0.5 demo allows commanders to test their tactical mettle through the first two missions of both the German and American campaigns, all rendered in a 256-colour pallet, complete with music, changing weather patterns, and animated environments.

Players must navigate realistic battlefield elements such as fog of war, supply lines, morale, and defensive entrenchments, while watching the computer opponent plot its counter-moves like a chess grandmaster. Success relies on nurturing a core veteran army where surviving units earn experience, medals, and specialized refits over time. Adding a rich layer of personality, units can even be joined by unique "Aces" featuring distinct biographies and special combat bonuses, though losing the unit means losing the commander forever. Packed with historical details, period photography, an integrated undo feature, and multilingual support, this demo might appeal to those that love a bit of history, while putting aside that it was made with the help of AI.
