The Zing - The Thing inspired horror for the Commodore Amiga

The Thing was one of the greatest horror movies of all time, a 1980's horror film about a parasitic extraterrestrial life-form that assimilates and then imitates other organisms such as the American researchers in Antarctica who encounter this disgusting parasite as the "Thing". Although this post isn't so much about the 1982 gore fest it is about the latest Commodore Amiga game called ' The Zing ', which is inspired by that very movie.

Released just recently by Iron Gate as an action game recommended for the Amiga 1200, this game puts you in control of one of the lookalike characters in the movie, who must not only find codes to enter the Antarctic base, but will need to kill all the infected companions and creatures, and most importantly, burn and take blood samples so that no one can experiment with this plague. Beware however this wont be easy, so make sure to grab all the weapons you can find and more especially the all powerful flamethrower, a perfect weapon for all parasitic lifeforms.

The Zing, technical section
This game has been created with a game editor, the graphic section made in Deluxe Paint V.
The palette for the game is 16 colors and the resolution is 320x256.
It is advisable to play it on an Amiga 1200 for good speed, playing it on an A500 is possible, but the game will be somewhat slow, although you can play without problems.
