In 1982-1987, Irem with licensing by Williams released the fantastically enjoyable game of' ' Moon Patrol ' for the Arcade gaming community. A side-scrolling shooter that is widely credited for the introduction of parallax scrolling in side-scrolling video games, as you drove a buggy across a landscape, jumping over ditches and rocks while also shooting at enemies both above and in front made this such a great game to play.
So why are we mentioning this awesome game you might ask? Well not only did we get an overhauled version for the Atari XL/XE by TIX; featuring new mountain backdrops, a new moon city backdrop, a new starting base, new title screen, new tanks, mines etc, new colours and bug fixes released in October. But as of last week the overhaul has now made an appearance on the Atari 5200, much to the delight of many retro gamers across the globe.
