Here we are with something different for a Monday retro gaming news story, as we have just found out through Protovision, that they have not only finished the long running competition for their C64 game of 'Pieces II', but as of today you can download the free version of Pieces II – The Community Release; a tile matching puzzle game where the aim is to move pieces of the same kind together in order to clear them from the level.
While Protovision does say that Pieces II is more than just a follow up to the first Pieces game (created by the cracker scene over a decade ago), improving upon the original with its slick presentation and addictive levels that will have you playing for hours on end. The game can also be downloaded for free with a massive 200 levels to play through, most of which were contributed by the community as part of the Pieces II Level Design Compo.
