It's not often we get new racing games for the ZX Spectrum, but scrolling through the YRGB 2025 competition list, and I've come across a new game called 'Travel Unlimited' by MANU & KIT. A smooth racing game that will not only have you on the edge of your seat racing at break neck speeds, but you'll be racing other cars, while trying not to slide into the nearest tree. And here's the latest. "Travel Unlimited — a spin-off of the Travel Through Time series. There is no plot here, but the speeds are even higher, and there are also opportunities to upgrade cars. And, of course, a lot of classic cars. In addition, the game also runs on 48K".

I am too lazy to do any actual code comparison, but this feels like it may be using Chase HQ engine as the base. Looks, plays and plays very VERY similar, and even uses similar speech samples.
ReplyDeleteNo, it's the engine of the game Travel through Time. Manu & Kit described its creation in detail in their book. Nothing to do with Chase HQ. By the way, FPS is about twice as high.
