Hyper Sports - An arcade Olympic themed sports game appears on the Amiga [v0.92 UPDATE]

If you haven't broken your joystick just yet, with this latest release that is very possible! As after releasing the joystick and button bashing game called Track'N'Field, JOTD has now made available another downloadable version of Konami's arcade Olympic themed sports game called 'Hyper Sports'. A transcode and amiga port with graphics & sound conversion by JOTD and music by no9. To coincide with this news, we've got a few screenshots and gameplay footage provided below.

New video soon

According to the wikipedia page "The gameplay is much the same as Track & Field in that the player competes in an event and tries to score the most points based on performance criteria, and also by beating the computer entrants in that event. Also, the player tries to exceed a qualification time, distance, or score to advance to the next event. In Hyper Sports, if all of the events are passed successfully, the player advances to the next round of the same events which are faster and harder to qualify for. These events include swimming, skeet shooting, long horse, archery, triple jump, weight lifting and pole vault."

  • jotd: transcode and amiga port, graphics & sound conversion
  • no9: music
  • PascalDe73: amiga icon
  • Konami: original game
Dev Notes : You'll be delighted to know that no9 completed the music and that I have released v0.92 with it. As a bonus there's a ECS version now too

  3. It looks really good, identical to the arcade version, but it's still a very basic game, requiring 1 MB of bandwidth or AGA or ECS, when it would run perfectly fine on a classic Amiga 500. Once again, resources are being wasted.

That said, I appreciate the time and effort you put into this port
