The Micro Kids - A book by Gary Plowman

Micro Kids? I thought they looked small.

It seems Gary Plowman may have an obsession with Spectrums - first he wrote a book of self-penned ZX Spectrum games in his ZX Spectrum Games Code Club book, now he's back again (but this time in novel form) with another book featuring the old Speccy. Though we are treated also with other notable home micros (you should have noticed the C64 on the cover - and also the excellent pixel work of Simon Butler) here, as we are taken on a journey back to the glorious eighties when computers were real computers and the games defined many a young persons' life. Ah, memories.

ZX Spectrum BASIC Jam - Create a game in Sinclair BASIC to celebrate the birth of the ZX Spectrum

Throughout the years we've tried to feature as many retro inspired game jams as possible, from the Speccy Jam to the very latest GBJam. Each of these gave people around the world the opportunity to create any game they wish, as long as it fits the specific system criteria set by the competition creators. As such thanks to the organiser Gazzapper and a heads up by Gary Plowman (ZX Spectrum Games Code Club book), today's game jam called 'ZX Spectrum BASIC Jam', is in celebration of the birthday of the ZX Spectrum (35), Dartmouth BASIC (53), and the birth of the new ZX Spectrum Next.

ZX Spectrum Games Code Club - Special Spanish Edition is coming!

In 2015 Florinthedwarf did a big review write up of Gary Plowman's fabulous coding book ' ZX Spectrum Games Code club ', which is a top quality guide in programming in BASIC on the ZX Spectrum, just as many people did way back in the 80's and still do today. In actual fact the book included twenty BASIC games for you to type-in and enjoy. After each program, the book explains in great detail, how each element of the game works and much more to make this a worthy purchase at least for people who understand the English language. So today I've just been told by Gary, he is going to be launching the ZX Spectrum Games Code Club - Special Spanish Edition!
