Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos NES Enhancement

Bit of a short news update, as it's very late but seeing as it is too good to miss, Romhacking recently announced the release of the Ninja Gaiden II: HD Graphics Pack, which is an enhancement for the NES version of Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos. This game was released way back in the early 90's as the second installment in the Ninja Gaiden trilogy. This release graphically enhances the game by porting the graphics from Ninja Gaiden Trilogy for use with the NES version of the game and its 8-bit audio.

Furthermore the website also states graphical effects removed from the Trilogy are kept intact (or “restored”), including lightning in Stage 3-1, ice glow in Stage 5-2, and fades in cutscenes. Various graphical anomalies and errors in Trilogy have also been fixed. Do be aware however this may not work on an original NES and is designed for use with the US release requiring Mesen v0.9.5 or later.

this pack needs to be extracted to Mesen’s “HdPacks” folder. All the files - .png files and hires.txt - need to be included in a subfolder in that directory with the same name as the game ROM being loaded. Make sure that “Use HDNES HD packs” is enabled in video options.
