Studio MONO launch Dieselpunk "Insomnia" Kickstarter

Studio MONO has just launched their Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for their fantastic "Dieselpunk" styled RPG, Insomnia. If this name sounds familiar, it may well be as in November last year, they ran another Kickstarter fund but had to pull the plug. The existing pitch gave the wrong impression to the overall direction of the game and this new Kickstarter campaign, however blows all that out of the water.

The Screenshots and video clips shared so far have shown an extreme amount of polish that has already gone into the game, with highly detailed scenes dripping with atmosphere and style.

The scope of the game is no less ambitious, with the storyline starting with a massive spacestation/ship coming out of cryo-sleep with the last remaining vestige of the human race in a kind of Red Dwarf meets Battlestar Galactica setting.

The music is no less impressive, with a dark ambient track that wouldn't sound out of place on an Aphex Twin or Boards of Canada mix.

Studio MONO is promising big things with a non-linear storyline, character customisations, co-op play and episodic content delivery.

  • Platforms: PC, Mac, and Linux
  • Release date: Q4 2015 on PC. Mac and Linux to be determined.
  • Gameplay time: 15-20 hours main storyline & 20-30 hours of side quests (first season/year). More than 20 FREE chapters are planned after release, with 3-6 hours of gameplay each, to tell the whole tale.
The team has been working on this interesting title for 3 years now and given the level of detail and depth that has been produced so far, it seems like this will be a sure thing to back. They have accomplished the current level while still working full time jobs, and the funds raised through this campaign will allow them to concentrate full time on finishing the project and shipping before the next change of decade. I personally am looking forward to them succeeding.

Go have a look at their pitch, and maybe drop them a few pennies at:

Insomnia kickstarter campaign
or the Insomnia Project website

Also make sure to give them a thumbs up through Steam Greenlight
