Gold Mine Run! - A charming Arcade platformer released for MS-DOS!

It's not often we feature MS-DOS games, unless of course it's a glorious classic released on GOG, but today's announcement is something special for the retro game scene. As we've been told by our good friend Juan J. Martínez, who released other great games such as Hyperdrive(CPC) and Night Knight(MSX), that he has released an MS-DOS game of Gold Mine Run!: A high quality platformer that isn't just inspired by the classics, but you have to collect all the gold throughout each of the 30 stages to move to the next!

Here is what the creator says about the game " Gold Mine Run! is a single screen arcade platformer in the vibe of classic arcade games from the 80s. It was originally developed to be submitted to the DOS Game Jam of June 2023, and its development was streamed on Twitch. The game’s design was strongly influenced by Night Knight for the MSX by the same author. As for the requirements they are : MS/DOS, a 386DX 33MHz (requires protected mode), VGA graphics, a Sound Blaster (ideally, no sound is also supported) and at least 4MB of RAM".

  1. Always nice to see DOS still getting some love. MS-DOS defined almost two decades of gaming for me. Anyone remember the very first DOS game they played? For me, it was Sopwith.
