Here's a great retro heads up for you all, as looking for the latest Amiga news for our readers, and I've found out, that not only can you download the latest Amiga AGA game of 'Ninjyations' by S0Y, but this rather nice Commodore Amiga game came 1st place in the Posadas 2025 competition. While the game description was rather brief however, the developer was noted as saying "This game was made, in principle, solely and exclusively to make this tutorial and encourage users to use RedPill and create more projects for Amiga".
And here's the latest from the game play info screen. S0Y presents Ninjyations. A Kikems-retro Ninja game adventure. "Ninja", the assassin, aims to gain control of the empire's country. However the "KOGO" stronghold has been conquered first. Maybe the magic scrolls will help". And that's all there is to say about the game, so visit the link below to check it out :)
UPDATE : Saberman has informed me that S0Y has released a new version of Ninjyations, and those changes/fixes include.
- Fixed a bug with the final boss: if he died on the far right side of the
- screen, the game would not be able to access the final screen
- Hidden items now require fewer hits to appear
- Fixed a bug on level 5 where enemies embedded in walls would not appear
- Fixed a serious bug in level 2 where the character could crouch through the
- scenery until it became blocked
- Implemented particle effects on hidden items to make them easier to locate
- Fixed a bug in the 2nd zone of the 4th level, where if you were killed you
- would start in the 1st zone
- Fixed a bug in level 6 where the color cycle was not activated correctly
- Fixed bug in the last level boss where it would not activate when the
- character arrived
- Fixed a bug with the final level boss where if you died you would spawn in
- the wrong place and be unable to continue

This game looks like it has promise. However, the game play seems extremely basic, like an 8 bit platformer with a bigger color palette. The main character is a ninja, but can only run, jump and through items. Even 8-bit games like Ninja Gaiden had more depth to the gameplay. The backgrounds look nice, but the characters look like they are from something else, and pasted on. The backgrounds have subtle, soft edges and muted colors... but the characters have bright colors, and black outlines. And speaking of the character, he needs ro really have more care put into his look. The character is very blocky and moves kind of choppy. It is hard to look at the ninja, and say, "This is the same platform that has main characters like Ruff Rogers or even Superfrog"? Music is nice though.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the website, all the graphics was taken from other games (arcade and SNES), and the music comes from ModArchive.org, without further crediting any specific composers.
DeleteAnd the irony that the main character was ripped from Ninja Gaiden... with the same poor three animation frames.

Great game, even though some (apparently jealous) people go out of their way to highlight the flaws (dubious, by the way) instead of the virtues (many for a maker project, in my opinion). It's been a long time since I've been so hooked on a game. Congratulations to the author.
Great Future Release !!!!
ReplyDeleteVoto: n.c. (coming soon !!)
Awesome graphics!!
nice graphichs with even parallax but the playability seems too simple, unoriginal and boring
