We've featured Galaga on Indie Retro News many times over the years, with the Atari 2600 port, the demake on the Amiga by Pink and Fade One, the C64 release by Arlasoft, and finally the excellent version by JOTD and team for the Amiga. Well fast forward to today however and there's another Galaga game to keep you busy, and it's Galaga for the VIC-20 16/32K. A fast-paced VIC-20 tribute to Namco’s arcade classic by Milasoft. To coincide with this news, provided below is the latest footage by Saberman.
Players can expect everything that made the 1981 classic legendary, including iconic diving alien formations, Boss Galagas that deploy tractor beams to capture your ship, and the high-stakes dual-fighter rescues that double your firepower. It is a rather decent release featuring remarkably smooth enemy animations, scrolling starfields, authentic sound effects, and escalating difficulty across challenging stages, even wrapping up each run with detailed endgame accuracy stats for serious high-score chasers.

This is a big, big swing for this hardware, but the programmer did his level best with it. Reminds me just a touch of Fourth Encounter by Thorn EMI.
