Phil Searching for Mort - A faithful Next conversion of the classic 1988 ZX Spectrum isometric adventure!

The ZX Spectrum Next has just got a dose of classic Spanish comic book charm with the release of Phil Searching for Mort by MJB Software. This ambitious new title is a faithful Next conversion of the classic 1988 isometric adventure originally crafted by legendary graphic artist Alfonso Fernández -AF- called En Busca de Mortadelo! Inspired by Francisco Ibáñez’s iconic, slapstick-heavy Mortadelo y Filemón comic series, the game tasks the bossy, short-tempered Phil with rescuing his tall, master-of-disguise partner, Mort, who has been turned to stone by a gang of ruthless villains. To break the curse, Phil must first navigate a treacherous labyrinth to free the eccentric Professor Bacterio, the only man capable of brewing the magic reversal potion.

Spanning an impressive 190-plus isometric screens, the gameplay hopefully captures the chaotic, high-stakes energy of the original comic strip. Players will need to move fast, blast cartoon enemies, leap over deadly traps, and solve clever physics puzzles by pushing objects to advance through the maze toward a final, massive boss encounter. MJB Software has fully utilized the Next's enhanced audio capabilities, packing the game with a diverse soundtrack featuring a variety of in-game musical themes that dynamically shift into thrilling arrangements as Phil edges closer to the enemy lair.
