An update to our previous article of the revamped classic Rocket Ranger as "Rocket Ranger Reloaded", the developers Cinemaware have just announced a playable demo trailer for a Kickstarter tease. This is an action adventure game originally developed by Cinemaware in 1988 for a multitude of systems is set to be graphically overhauled through a Kickstarter campaign. Once again developed by the same company Cinemaware, "Rocket Ranger Reloaded" will return to the 1930's-40's with that authentic B-Movie Hollywood style and will feature a number of enhancements such as all in high-definition stylized graphics with a new orchestral soundtrack and much more.
Cinemaware - Some of the greatest classics coming to GOG.COM!
We've just been informed by Cinemaware that they have announced a digital distribution agreement with GOG.com, the leading source of DRM-free games. Through this agreement GOG.com will be providing a selection of incredible classics that many of us grew up with; one such game being Defender of the Crown. It Came From The Desert - Cinemaware's unreleased SEGA action version is coming!!!!
I could not believe what I was seeing today as Florian Merz had spotted what looked to be an updated It Came From The Desert by Cinemaware, for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis. At first I thought it was a joke, was this real? Was this some sort of trick by Cinemaware? But no it's real! Cinemaware spoke to me and confirmed the unreleased 1990 version will be released for the Holiday 2014 season as a limited edition version, with the production of the cartridge, case and manual working closely with WaterMelon Games, the creators of Pier Solar for the Mega Driver/Genesis.
Wings : Remastered Edition - The big beta update and Android, iOS news
It's been awhile since we've featured Cinemware's classic revamp of the WW1 arcade flight game, Wings and today we've just had a press release that not only shows off the latest in game screenshots but also news of the Amiga emulated, Android, iOS build version. In a recap, Wings was an all time classic WW1 flight Simulator intermixed with arcade bombing runs that was released in 1990 for the Amiga, later also ported for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, it was a true gem for it's time and is still highly regarded as one of the best WW1 games ever developed. Wings: Remastered is a revamped version of the original that will feature far higher graphical capability of the original, while still keeping to the original game play that made the original so great. Wings: Remastered was also a Kickstarter success and we at Indie Retro News have been following it's progress for some time, so read on for the new stuff!
Cinemaware Hit Classic - Defender of the Crown now available for Android
Cinemaware recently gave us the heads up that their original hit classic Defender of the Crown would be available for Android, and that day is today! Defender of the Crown was one of the best games ever created and a high achievement of setting a new standard for graphics quality in home computers games in 1986. So you'll know what to expect when it comes to this game which has been given the Android treatment. Siege Castles, win tournaments, free sexy hostages, call on robin hood for his help and save the crown of England in an all time classic game.
Wings - Is Cinemaware still working on this hit classic?
At the start of the year, Cinemaware once again gave us hints on Indie Retro News that a Wings Kickstarter was going to be revamped, as the original Kickstarter failed, which was a massive shame to us fans! As of yet, no new Kickstarter has appeared of this all time classic Arcade flight sim, however this is the first proper in game cockpit image we've seen so far. So Wings may well still be in development and we may still see a Kickstarter at some point soon!
