Welcome to the Indie Retro News: Halloween Special. I'll be your host, Games in Bits. Specially selected because I have the most horrific avatar. Our delightfully despicable opening gif is courtesy of the SNK Arcade game Nightmare in the Dark, which is my personal recommendation for a Halloween playthrough. But I'm not here to recommend horror games this time, I'm here to tell you some gaming tales of terror that will thoroughly put the willies up you (ahem).

Barbarian Plus - Head chopping classic enhanced gets an early Amiga preview

Barbarian....One of my favourite games since I discovered games. I wasn't introduced to it like most heterosexual males my age, via their hormones and a titillating poster. Instead, it was one of the loose tapes that came with my second hand ZX Spectrum, and it got played to absolute death.

Return of Double Dragon - Superior Japanese version of Super Double Dragon gets a Cart release

Super Double Dragon on SNES was definitely a hit but never considered a classic like the original. Maybe if the superior Japanese version hadn't been butchered on release in the west it might have been. Thankfully the people at Retroism are releasing Return of Double Dragon on NTSC cartridge. Eight Dragons - Spiritual successor to Target Renegade coming soon to Steam

It's been a good month for my inner child. Growing up, owning a ZX Spectrum, my three favourite games for it were Barbarian, Saboteur, and Target Renegade. What with Barbarian getting not one but two snazzy looking remakes released in the coming months (Barbarian +,and Cimmerian), and Saboteur getting its long awaited threequel (I don't care if that's not a word),  I really didn't think things could get better for the ten year old Chris that now only exists in the best part of my brain. Now we have Eight Dragons from the marvellous peeps at Extend Mode and it looks fantastic.

Saboteur 3 - Long awaited follow up by Clive Townsend is coming!

The original Saboteur is a bit legendary. Not only was it one of the best, and most expansive, games on the Speccy, C64 and CPC, but it also had the most balls to the wall awesome cover art literally ever.

The A-Team - Pity the fool who plays these games

Licenced games. Nobody expects them to be good. Sometimes you get exceptions... Robocop or Airwolf. This is not one."If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can play... a crappy A-Team game."

A look back at a much maligned classic Ninja Golf on the 7800

Ninja Golf is one of those games that's best known as a meme. Its not something you actually play, more something you show off to illustrate how gonzo-wacky you are. So please allow me to talk about Ninja Golf to illustrate how gonzo-wacky I am.
