H.E.R.O II - Original C64 action classic overhaul gets a new v2 preview!

Sometime back we mentioned the work in progress enhancement of the original C64 game of H.E.R.O, which was first released way back in the 1980's for the Atari 800/2600, ColecoVision, C64, C128, and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Now titled as ' H.E.R.O II ', with updates by the same developer Retrofan who is behind the upcoming Bombjack remaster. Has felt that the original was lacking in the graphics department as it looked and played hardly any better than the Atari 2600 version. As such also thanks to maltes they have decided to make it look so much better as an overhaul, that is previewed in the second update version released by Raiders of the Lost Empire.

Bomb Jack DX C64 - C64 classic overhauled is looking seriously good in beta 5

Seeing as my brain hasn't completely shut down I can still remember in the late 80's on my Amstrad CPC 464 playing the brilliant Arcade port ' Bomb Jack '. It is a game that required you the player to high jump and float about getting rid of all the bombs on the screen before they are used to blow up historic places of interest, which is made more difficult by the enemies on screen. It was such a good game that sadly many felt the C64 version could've been so much better, and thanks to Retrofan and his overhaul, this latest Bomb Jack DX C64 version is looking just that.

AkReal v8.8 - Unofficial conversion of a great OS, optimised for real Amiga AGA!

Throughout the years many of us have either stuck to a lovely plain blue Amiga based OS or a fully featured Bloodwych installed ClassicWB. But now thanks to Retrofan, there's another OS you might want to install and that's the latest release of AkReal Version 8.8. This latest software is an unofficial conversion of AmiKit, the high-end distribution of the best classic Amiga software, which has been optimised for real Amiga's with AGA.

Bomb Jack DX - C64 classic overhauled gets new beta footage!

Remember when we gave you the first hand heads up over an overhauled work in progress announcement of Bomb Jack for the C64? Well today we've just been given a rather nice looking update to Retrofan's ' Bomb Jack DX '; which has received more than just a few improvements. Originally an arcade platformer released in 1984, with many different ports such as the Amstrad and C64, Bomb Jack DX looks to be a vast improvement over the original, with not just better graphical detail, but smoother gameplay and optimized character sprites. To coincide with this news, the developer has also released a new gameplay video!

You may remember us giving you the big feature heads up over an overhauled work in progress announcement of Bomb Jack for the C64, well we've just been given an update by one of our C64 readers of some rather interesting updates that has been added to the overhauled remake. Titled 'Bomb Jack DX C64' and developed by Retrofan, these new additions certainly sound most impressive indeed for an overhaul, and what's more, the developer also aims to release a new video soon. You may remember us giving you the big feature heads up over an overhauled work in progress announcement of Bomb Jack for the C64, well we've just been told by Retro Nerd of the EAB forums, that the developer Retrofan has now released the very latest alpha footage of the C64 arcade superhero classic conversion. Another news of note is the game is no longer just Bomb Jack overhauled but it now has an official name of Bomb Jack DX C64. This video tease shows us a glimpse of the detail in the enhanced version, the smooth game play and the great soundtrack!

Bomb Jack - C64 classic is getting an incredible overhaul!

We was originally going to save this for tomorrow but seeing as today has been really special for retro gaming releases, it's time to announce that Bomb Jack is getting a much better port than was originally released way back in 1986. According to the developer 'Retrofan', the original Atari XL version probably based on the C64 engine, had far better detail than what it should've been like on the C64. Also the fact that the arcade version was graphically superior with shiny metal sprites, smooth curves and much more, which was not so in the C64 original. However the great news is Retrofan is hard at work at turning the C64 Bomb Jack into what it should've been like when it first came out!
