ALPHARAY - A fabulous shoot em up for the COMMODORE C16 + 64K and the PLUS/4
On the topic of brilliant looking shoot em ups, one such game caught our eye, and that's Stefan Mader's and team ' ALPHARAY ' by Puls4r. This game released recently at the Evoke party, is a stonkly good shoot em up, which was released by the Bauknecht Group for the COMMODORE C16 + 64K and or PLUS/4. It features high quality graphics, smooth frame rates, and a nostalgic scrolling action trip to that of R-Type!
Zone of Lacryma - Story driven shooter inspired by retro shoot em ups (Early Access)
So maybe Adventure games are not to your thing, but what about a Steam early access shoot em up that doesn't just feature a rich story but also lots of things to blow up. Well then, welcome to ' Zone of Lacryma ', a story driven 2D shooter which is inspired by classic shoot em ups but with a couple of twists including custom built levels in a game that was also developed using Construct 2
R-Type on the NES... Sort of!
Irem's classic space shooter R-Type made it to many systems in the day, over 10 home systems saw a release but one missed out on the joys of blasting the Bydo. The NES never got an official port, so in 1994 a bootleg sprang out of the Chinese brand MagicSeries.Corp with Magic Dragon. Essentially an R-Type clone for the console that saved video gaming. Maybe they shouldn't have bothered...
