Way back in the year 2012, Andrew771 of the World of Spectrum forums released his Colonization style Turn Based-Strategy game 'Euphoria 2D' for the ZX Spectrum. But nearly three years later (today in fact), the developer has released a 2015 update which has given the game some much needed changes and additions. Looking like a cross between Dwarf Fortress and an old school Ultima title, you are to create a nation of Euphoria in an unknown land. Build mighty cities, farm for resources and defend it against the invading enemy!
Euphoria 2D is a very deep and involving game that will cause some people to give up in either boredom or frustration. That's not to say its a bad game as it is certainly unique for the ZX Spectrum, it just takes a lot of time to really understand how to play with no tutorial in what is the correct way to even begin to build your settlement. For those of you that have played Dwarf Fortress, will really see where I am coming from. Lastly the game could seriously do with a good key overlay as pressing the 9 key and remembering every building icon can take some doing.
