Deuteros Resurrected - Strategy PC remake of a classic Amiga/Atari ST game is in the works, first milestone reached!

We haven't featured a PC remake of Ian Bird's Amiga/Atari ST Strategy game Deuteros for awhile, especially as a number of announced remakes of this classic game have been announced and then dropped never to be seen again. Thankfully it looks as if Tony Cheetham has taken to the task, as he has recently announced the first playable milestone of a new PC remake called ' Deuteros Resurrected '. An unofficial, but faithful pixel-for-pixel remake of the original Amiga game by Ian Bird

Here's the latest. ""Deuteros – Resurrected" is an unofficial, but faithful pixel-for-pixel remake of the original Amiga game by Ian Bird. Every screen, system, and mechanic has been recreated exactly as it was — but with all the bugs removed(Don't worry, you'll be able to turn them back on). No redesigns. No rebalancing. No reinterpretation. Just Deuteros, exactly as you remember it — running flawlessly on modern systems."

"Deuteros – Resurrected is currently in active development and progressing. We are implementing features as they would appear in the course of gameplay, and so far we have completed the Mining, Training, Research and Production screens. The shipbay is the next area to get some love. Core systems implemented - Data storage for the whole game has been planned and implemented, along with save/load functionality. Playable builds are available and should be relatively bug-free."

Deuteros (Amiga Version)

"We hit a milestone recently of having the game playable to the first major milestone, building an orbital factory above earth. We've built out most of the major systems in game, so you can train staff, research anything, build anything on earth and (maybe) in orbit, fly ships and deploy orbital factories. The project is now 100% open source with all code posted on github as we reach suitable milestones, and available under a CC0 license. We've made contact with the original creator Ian Bird, and got his blessing for the project. He will be joining us for a play test and AMA closer to the 1.0 launch, which we hope will be sometime in June."

  1. This game got me through some tough bullying at school, so I for one am really looking forward to playing the finished version... That's IF it gets finished :)
