Karateka - Meynaf wows the Amiga community with a new ST/Amiga port!

Earok who we know from the Amiga CD32 releases has just informed us of a new Atari ST to Amiga port by meynaf called 'Karateka', that has been made available via the EAB forums. This fighting game was originally designed by Jordan Mechner who is best known for Prince of Persia and was released on Apple II, Amstrad CPC, Atari 8-bit, Atari 7800, Atari ST, Commodore 64, DOS, Famicom, ZX Spectrum, MSX and Game Boy, with the Atari ST version being the best graphically .....Until now.

The object of the game is to rescue the princess Mariko who has been kidnapped by the evil Akuma who has also destroyed your homeland. You are trained in the art of Karate, also known as karateka and must fight each opponent who gets in your way to finally rescue her. You will come across many foes that must be punched or kicked, before fighting a flying eagle and then reaching the evil that is Akuma. Just be careful because if your health bar at the bottom is all gone, you will die and have to start it all again, so make sure to back off and give yourself some time to heal up.

In all this is a great game, but the port itself is seriously impressive with many people that have played it giving feedback such as " This is really incredible. " and " Really a great port. Works fast enough with a standard A1200 config. ". Of which I can agree with as in my test it was very smooth, looks awesome and it could be the Amiga fan game of the year!

What's more you can download it below, already unpacked and ready to be played on a real Amiga or through a WinUAE setup.
