An SD Card Interface for your Amiga? Oh Yes!

Through all these years of owning an Amiga, especially the ones with internal hard drives such as an original drive or CF, there has always been a few issues which have been a royal pain for certain users. Some of those annoyances is the fact that you either have to use a PCMCIA adapter with SD Card, take the Amiga apart and remove the CF, or there is also the rather expensive ACA500. However this is set to change with Ferix's new hard drive hardware device called the 'SD Card Interface', which plugs into a parallel port of any Amiga!

In development since 2009 with a recent driver involvement this last year, the SD Card Interface acts like an external hard drive such as a fixed disk or a removable one. As the developer has stated it's like using a CF on an A1200 through the PCMCIA port. In other words this could be the next big thing away from the Gotek, which enables Amiga owners like you and me to simple plug and play hard drive installed games through the SD card device that can also be used for storing files via a USB adapter on the PC,

I for example do have issues regarding the use of a PCMCIA adapter as at times it can cause the Amiga to completely lag and stall, as I also use an accelerator that has timing issues with that
particular device. Thankfully with the SD Card Interface that could well be a thing of the past.

What was also mentioned is the speeds will be about the same as a floppy drive, if not slightly faster.
