Red Planet - Arcade shooter blasts its way on to your ZX Spectrum

Putting aside all those fascinating dungeon crawlers, it's time to mention Salvador Cantero's arcade release of 'Red Planet', which is now available to play on the ZX Spectrum. Powered by The Mojon Twins and title screen by Mike Smith, Red Planet is a jet pack jumping and shooter platformer, that was made available just yesterday as a tape based file. With lovely 8-bit detail and enemy designs, Red Planet is completely free. But I must warn you, it's not an easy game to master!

In Red Planet you are tasked to destroy the old Space Station and stop it's evil inhabitants by the use of dangerous explosions that are found throughout the level. By collecting ammo you can blast away those pesky enemies but be careful as not only do you have to deal with a dropping fuel supply but one touch of an enemy and it's a loss of life. If you can just about manage that then you should have no problem with the limited jumping height that I found to be an issue when hopping from platform to platform.

So have fun ZX Spectrum owners, let me know how far you get!
