If you've ever heard of Covert Bitops then you would've known they released the fantastic action adventure game ' Hessian ' for the C64 in 2016. A game which blew us away with over 667 screens with specialised AI enemies found throughout that must either be avoided or shot at. Well as of this moment we have learnt Covert Bitops are working on a game called Steel Ranger which is looking just as impressive!
So much so in fact, Steel Ranger will be a Turrican/Metroid inspired action game, with adventure elements as a loose sequel to Hessian with familiar gameplay but easier controls. If that wasn't enough to pull you in, the creator has gone on to say in Jan "after finishing Hessian, some time was needed to explore new tech options for a potential new C64 game and in contrast to Hessian & Metal Warrior games, this game will utilize 2x2 char blocks to allow more precision and freedom in building the game world"
And that's just a very small part of the development cycle to Steel Ranger which dates back to January and can be seen via his main website (HERE). Certainly a game that needs to be watched, as if it's as good as Hessian (link), it's going to be AWESOME!
