Open Fodder - Open sourced Cannon Fodder reaches version 1.6.0!

From 1993 to 1994 Sensible Software and published by Virgin Interactive released two of the best top down war based shooters I have ever played in my life.  It was none other than Cannon Fodder and its sequel Cannon Fodder 2: An action-strategy shooter series first released for the Amiga and then later ported to other systems such as the PC. So why are we mentioning these fabulous games yet again on IRN? Robert Crossfield has just announced the open source port of ' Open Fodder ' has reached version 1.6.0!

1.5.0 Video

The last time we mentioned Open Fodder , the developer told us the open sourced version of Cannon Fodder was based upon the DOS CD version to keep in line with the original game as well as the game bening military-themed and based on shooting action but with a strategy game-style control system. What makes this release different however from the previous versions is the fact it not only supports Cannon Fodder 2, but the Amiga demo's ' The One ', ' Amiga Action ' and 'Amiga Format Not Very Festive ' with many more features listed below!

Whats new in 1.6.0
Ini for configuration options
JavaScript engine for random map generation
JavaScript engine debugging (See JSDebug build on Discord)
Support more sprites than original engine
Support for maps of any size (limitation is system memory)
Better game asset detection
Whats fixed
Crash on final PC mission
Amiga intro helicopter no longer flicker
PC Ufo sprite sheet alignment
Notes
It is advised to increase the maximum sprites/spawns on random maps
Original Cannon Fodder 1 and 2 is required
