Star Skimmer - A pretty decent SEUCK C64 game from Alf Yngve and Martin Piper

Another SEUCK competition entry has appeared, and it's 'Star Skimmer' by Alf Yngve and Martin Piper. This homebrew Commodore 64 title, is a arcade Shoot 'em up, that features vertical scrolling gameplay, different enemy waves, and plenty of laser blasting action. In regards to the story however, you play as Cole Skimmer who is on a very deadly mission to stop the evil Nitwup empire from hatching a plot to take over Planet Earth. To coincide with this news, provided below is further details and some gameplay footage.

And here's the info from the TND competition page. "There is one thing I always loved in a SEUCK compo, and that is a really cool space blaster. Well, Alf Yngve delivers exactly that. Alf has also teamed up with Martin Piper to give us Star Skimmer, a vertical scrolling blaster for 1 player only. Star Skimmer has you playing the role of a fearless pilot from the Federation. Cole Skimmer is on a very deadly mission which is to stop the evil Nitwup empire from hatching a plot to take over Planet Earth. The only way to do this is approach the surface of each passing asteroid and destroy the enemy bases. However, he will not be alone and the aliens are watching his every move. Also there are captured astronauts to be rescued. Star Skimmer features some neat SEUCK Redux enhancements which Martin has included, but I will let you work some of these out for yourself".

  1. Actually a cool game. Made for a competition it may lack depth (no weapon upgrades etc.) and lastability (I managed to solve it in the second attempt, after getting to know what's ground and what's obstacles), but it gives a very satisfying gaming experience - SEUCK or not!

    1. With more enemy waves, and a soundtracking playing I think this would be a commercial hit
