Ooze: The Escape - A great ZX Spectrum game by Andy Johns is getting a Haplo C64 port!

If you have a Commodore 64 you are going to love this retro gaming news update that's been sent to us early this morning, as if you remember our previous announcement of Ooze which was released for the ZX Spectrum by Andy Johns. Then you maybe interested to know that as of today you can play the preview of the Commodore 64 conversion/port by Haplo. A game which will feature when complete, vastly improved graphics, sprites and sprite overlays, tons of new animations, improved screens and game-play and even a minimap!

Here is what the website says about this fabulous C64 game! "Help Ooze navigate through various corridors and laboratories, using its gravity-reversing powers to overcome obstacles and avoid the robotic guards in an attempt to escape from this dangerous subterranean complex. Collect keys and insert them in the computer terminal to disable the force-field and gain access to further areas. Can you escape?"

This preview version is work in progress and has the following restrictions:

  • Only the red key and a limited areas are accessible. There is nothing more to do after inserting the red key in the computer terminal.
  • No sound effects
  • Collision detection might feel inaccurate in some places
  • Possibility of bugs

What is still left to do for the full version:

  • Finishing touches on the screens
  • Game-play tweaks and collision-detection adjustments
  • Sound effects
  • More animations

  1. This looks superb. The music is awesome too, shades of Elm Street?

  2. One of the Top10 Spectrum A.G.D. based games finds its ways to C64. Actualy the second A.G.D. video game by Andy Johns/Bubblesoft , after the Enhanced(with scrolling) "Nixy the Glade Sprite" that's ported to C64. Maybe more in the way ?
