A piece of gaming history has been officially recovered as two unreleased 1990s computer ports of Seibu Kaihatsu’s legendary arcade shoot-em-up, Raiden, has been added to digital archives for both the Commodore Amiga and Atari Falcon as a preview download. Originally hitting arcades in 1990, Raiden became an instant phenomenon. The vertical shooter put players inside the Raiden Supersonic Attack Fighter to battle invading aliens with destructive weapon upgrades and fast-paced gameplay. While it was successfully ported to platforms like the SNES, Mega Drive, and Atari Jaguar, the mid-90s ports for the Commodore Amiga and Atari Falcon by developer Imagitec Design were famously shelved due to a shifting gaming market.
Captain Victor Stormbeard And The Undead Treasure - An upcoming C64 platformer from KD Software gets a demo
The upcoming Commodore 64 platform adventure, Captain Victor Stormbeard and the Undead Treasure by KD Software, has officially been teased with a playable demo. Commodore 64 enthusiasts can now download and test the initial stage of this highly anticipated title, offering a substantial look at what the full game will provide. In fact if you do end up playing it, you'll experience the complete first level of the game, featuring 21 interconnected screens to explore, enemies to defeat, secrets to discover, and treasures to collect.
Super Xevious 1200 - JOTD's Arcade to Commodore Amiga 1200 conversion is rather decent! [UPDATE]
Earlier this week we featured JOTD's in development Arcade to Amiga conversion of Xevious : A game that was originally released in the Arcades by Namco and then ported to other home computers. Well if you haven't played the game, as you were waiting for the final version to appear, then you are in luck! As JOTD has finally announced that both Xevious and Super Xevious have been released for the Commodore Amiga. As in the words of JOTD "published "final" version on itch. For the floppy release, Damien did a menu to start various configurations, including Super Xevious. Now matches 60Hz speed"
Loony Ledges - A new 8-bit style platform game for the Amiga 500 by PixelPlop

QUOD INIT EXIT IIo - 9 years in the making and Retream's colourful C64 sequel is finally here!
In 2015 we gave a special mention to Retream's Arcade platformer of ' QUOD INIT EXIT ', a C64 game that had a cute little pig, lots of fast moving fruit and was so colourful you would've been silly not to load it up on a C64. Well fast forward to today, and after 9 years in the making (with lots of articles too), the piggy sequel of QUOD INIT EXIT IIo has arrived. An awesome C64 game that can be viewed in the last footage by the developer and Saber!
Schreckenstein 64 - A port of the fabulous Atari 800/XL exclusive game Schreckenstein by Peter Finze!
An early morning heads up for you all, as we've recently been informed that Rob Rafac has released the Atari XL/XE to Commodore 64 port of Schreckenstein. As in the words of the creator. "I have been working on a port of the fabulous Atari 800/XL-exclusive game Schreckenstein by Peter Finzel (not to be confused with the several C64 games with similar names), so I want to turn it loose on the community here". To coincide with this news, Saberman has provided a video showing the game in action.
Hydrogenese - A game missing for 35 years appears as a preview for the Commodore 64!
Year after year we usually go on about the latest games and unreleased titles seeing the light of day for the very first time, well here are with another unreleased game for you to play test, as thanks to our good friends GamesThatWeren't, you too can try out a preview download of the unreleased game of 'Hydrogenese'. A game that was not only developed by X-Ample, who produced lots of demos and games going back as far as 1988(?). But GTW are quoted as saying for Hydrogenese " this is a brilliant and early look at what could have been an amazing space shooter!".
Broken Mirror - A adventure horror for the C64 that looks rather interesting! [UPDATE]
Something different for today on Indie Retro News, as looking through the CSdb site for something interesting to write up, and we've come across rather cool looking adventure horror game called 'Broken Mirror' by Tommie Hansmar with music by 4Gente Zeus Zardax. Although it's just a preview, and unsure if it will be turned into a full game however. If you enjoy games such as Shadowgate, then it might be worth checking out this rather nice C64 homebrew which is being shown in the footage provided by Saberman.
JetHuntERS - An Amiga preview of a new arcade shoot 'em up by Coagulus
Thanks to another heads up from Saberman, he has told us that Coagulus has made available an early build preview of his/her work in progress Shoot-em-up for the Amiga called 'JetHuntERS'. A game that the developer says isn't just a sequel to JetHunt, but also a partial tribute to the game Zybex which came out on 8-bit computers in the 1980's. To coincide with this news, we've got some new footage of the game as well as some further info posted via the EAB forums below.
Mega Wizards - A work in progress preview of a multi-party game for the Commodore 64
Even though it's getting really late and I'm almost falling asleep at the keyboard, I thought it best to give a shout out to this game that was mentioned to us through Facebook, and it's "Retro Gaming with Jeffrey's" latest Commodore 64 development of 'Mega Wizards'; A multi-party game that has been teased as a work in progress build! Tapper - Arcade beer drinking classic on the Amiga gets a final release and it's GREAT!
We've featured the 1983 game of 'Tapper' a number of times now, as throughout these last few months we've been telling everyone, that the beer serving Arcade game originally by Marvin Glass and Associates released by Bally Midway, was coming to the Amiga as an Arcade port. Well today we have another Tapper news story for you all, as Old_Bob has told us that the previously mentioned in-development Amiga version has been finished and is now available for download. As in the words of the creator "Ok, dudes. After 3 years, 4 months and 17 days since the day I began the thing, the finished game is now, at last...Time here, for a celebratory beer, or three!"

If you have a Commodore 64 you are going to love this retro gaming news update that's been sent to us early this morning, as if you remember our previous announcement of Ooze which was released for the ZX Spectrum by Andy Johns. Then you maybe interested to know that as of today you can play the preview of the Commodore 64 conversion/port by Haplo. A game which will feature when complete, vastly improved graphics, sprites and sprite overlays, tons of new animations, improved screens and game-play and even a minimap!

Scorch - A Scorched Earth clone gets an early preview for the Atari XL/XE

This game might not look like much, with it's bare backgrounds and tiny coloured objects, but this is actually a preview Atari XL/XE release, that comes across very much like Scorched Tanks on the Amiga and the MS-DOS game Scorched Earth. Developed by pirx and as a multiplayer game with up to 2 players so far, your ultimate goal is to wipe out your opponent by working out the correct trajectory that your Baby Missile flies through the air and hits dead on target!
Riviera Story - A new arcade platformer is previewed for the C64 by Bladawietz
Even more C64 games to get through today, as trawling through the CSdb database we've come across a new C64 game as a preview called 'Riviera Story' by Bladawietz(?). This game available to try, looks to be an Arcade platformer in which you play as Fred and must survive deadly trials by avoiding enemies, collecting beer and replenishing your supply in the allotted time. To coincide with this news not only can you play the preview, but some gameplay footage has been made available viewable below.

Another puzzler has graced our C64 screens today, as thanks to Tom letting us know through Facebook, he has told us that if you head on over to the itch.io website linked below, you can download the latest preview of 'The Machinations' by Haplo and Marukpa; An automation puzzle game for the Commodore 64 which is based around The Sequence by One Man Band with music by Barry Leitch.
