Raiden - A brilliant Arcade Shoot 'em up is partially recovered as an Amiga & Atari Falcon preview

A piece of gaming history has been officially recovered as two unreleased 1990s computer ports of Seibu Kaihatsu’s legendary arcade shoot-em-up, Raiden, has been added to digital archives for both the Commodore Amiga and Atari Falcon as a preview download. Originally hitting arcades in 1990, Raiden became an instant phenomenon. The vertical shooter put players inside the Raiden Supersonic Attack Fighter to battle invading aliens with destructive weapon upgrades and fast-paced gameplay. While it was successfully ported to platforms like the SNES, Mega Drive, and Atari Jaguar, the mid-90s ports for the Commodore Amiga and Atari Falcon by developer Imagitec Design were famously shelved due to a shifting gaming market.

Hydrogenese - A game missing for 35 years appears as a preview for the Commodore 64!

Year after year we usually go on about the latest games and unreleased titles seeing the light of day for the very first time, well here are with another unreleased game for you to play test, as thanks to our good friends GamesThatWeren't, you too can try out a preview download of the unreleased game of 'Hydrogenese'. A game that was not only developed by X-Ample, who produced lots of demos and games going back as far as 1988(?). But GTW are quoted as saying for Hydrogenese " this is a brilliant and early look at what could have been an amazing space shooter!".

Deadhead - A neat looking preview of a sooped up Defender style of game has been recovered! ( C64 )

In the early 1980's an Arcade game released by Williams Electronics was to become one of the most important titles of the golden age of video arcade games selling over 55,000 units. That game was Defender; a side scrolling shooter featuring 2D graphics as you defend astronauts against wave after wave of alien enemies. In fact it was so popular that we have seen many Defender style of games and even clones released throughout the years and it's why we are also mentioning this latest find called 'Deadhead': A neat looking preview of a sooped up Defender style of game which has been recovered!  (C64).

Journalist - Another Andromeda C64 preview has been found and recovered

As so many of you are aware by now we love Retro games, especially games that have been lost into the ages and through these modern times have finally been recovered for many of us to enjoy. This is especially true for games such as Microfair Madness and even Daffy Duck And The Great Paint Caper. Thankfully more games are being recovered, as thanks to a heads up from GamesThatWerent, we now know that another Andromeda preview as 'Journalist', has been found and recovered thanks to Thomas Sol Sunhede and Hedning, Zynon and Whisper of Genesis Project.

Popeye V1 - A special find for today, as an unreleased and early C64 prototype of a classic Arcade game appears!

Now here's a blast from the past, as we've recently been informed by our good friends Games That  Weren't, that the classic Arcade game of 'Popeye' which was originally released on the C64 back in 1983 via the Parker Brothers, has re-appeared on the same system, but this time as an unreleased and full C64 conversion prototype. A different version of the game not seen for almost 40 years by a completely different developer Jack Verson for On-time Software

Yogi 3 - Yog's Big Clean Up - Cleaned and released for C64 after more than 20 years

Games That Weren't have completed the hatrick of Ash & Dave cartoon licences which were scrapped or lost in the early 1990s. Yogi's Big Clean Up has been recovered and completed and is available now at Games That Weren't. The game was victim to Hi-Tec Software's demise as 8 bit software houses either transitioned to 16 bit computers and consoles or fell by the wayside. Incomplete and without even a soundtrack or a way to transition levels, this game was doomed... Until Martin Pugh picked the source code and spent the last year producing this fully playable Yogi platform adventure.
