Knight Lore - Ultimate Play the Game classic arrives on the Commodore Amiga via Goblins (WIP?)

Although I am not a fan of the Ultimate Play the Games, even if they still do have a huge cult following and classed as a great collectors item. We just had to mention that thanks to our good friend Saberman, we've been told that a work in progress(?) Amiga port of ' Knightlore ' has been made available by Goblins via the Euskal Encounter 31 party (2023). A game that was originally written by company founders Chris and Tim Stamper for the ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro, Amstrad CPC, MSX and Famicom Disk System!

No sound?

In this classic game you play as Sabreman, who has been bitten by the Sabre Wulf and transforms into a werewolf at night.  He has forty days to collect items throughout many rooms and must brew a cure for his curse. This is made ever more difficult in an isometric viewpoint as many deadly obstacles are in the way, that when touched will kill you outright. In the above gif for example, if you jump and touch those mines or spikes you'll die, if you push the tables underneath and stay too long, the mines will drop and yes you'll die again. This is pretty much what the entire game is like and some of the rooms are very difficult, requiring much thought or fast timing!

Dev Notes :

  • KnightLore is developed in C++ with our own development framework.

  1. Any chance to built it in AGA pallette? It quite lacks of colors

  2. I love the idea of this!! I also strongly salute the decision to keep the 8bit aesthetic intact, the only thing I want to say is that the dithering/color choices aren't working. I would humbly suggest that the caretaker of this look at the MSX 2 port: for some inspiration, and also the Amiga Head Over Heels port:

  3. The title screen is amazing.

  4. it is a bit low res, but i assume its coz they haven't finished it yet
