A China Miner Christmas - A festive revamp of the infamously difficult C64 single-screen platformer from 1984

You can just tell it's Christmas with all these lovely festive games appearing on Indie Retro News, Christmas music being played on the radio, and lights twinkling in your neighbours window. So continue on this very festiveness we've been told that Arlasoft, who previously released C64 upgrades of Galaxian, Galaga, and even Paper Planes, has released the Commodore 64 game of A China Miner Christmas: A festive revamp of the infamously difficult C64 single-screen platformer from 1984

As ever here's the latest from the itch io page. "Miner Wally (I see what they did there...) returns in this Christmas-themed revamp of the infamously difficult C64 single-screen platformer from 1984. But a bit of snow and a Santa costume isn't the only thing that's changed, Wally has now developed his athletic abilities beyond recognition to give you the player a fighting chance of actually completing a level and hopefully having a lot more fun along the way"

Feature Notes :

  • The entire game has been re-written from the ground up complete with 'modern' controls and physics together with fairer collision detection
  • Another major change is that you no longer die when falling from a platform, and because this means the slides are no longer necessary to complete levels,  additional extra lives are placed on them to incentivise their use.
  • Finally, when you pick up items and then lose a life, they remain collected meaning you don't have to re-play the entire level from scratch.

  1. This game was so brutal that people are afraid to even comment on it!
