Another Commodore Amiga news story has appeared in our inbox, as we've recently found out through the EAB forums, that the previously announced game of Flying Shark. A new Arcade to Amiga remake by Magnus T together with JMD and John Tsakiris(GFX). Has recently been teased with a new one level demo that you can download and play right now. To coincide with this news, Saberman has not only provided a link to the demo, but he's also done a video of the game being played below.
As we said before in all of our previous write ups, originally many people felt the Amiga version that was released in 1988 by firebird was not only a bad conversion of a great Arcade game, but many people also felt that it had repetitive gameplay, the port was lazy, and the Amiga could have handled the arcade gfx with no problems. So here we are with this new remake of the game! While we are unsure of how far development will progress until its official release, already we can see the game looks better than ever featuring high quality graphics, sound and more.
I would definitely buy a hard copy of this new remake.
ReplyDeleteExcellent work!
Looks a very good port. Will there be also an AGA version with more colors and details?
ReplyDeleteCompi me quito el sombrero genial
ReplyDeleteLooks brilliant - can't wait till the final version is released.
ReplyDeleteIT looks better and better every day.
ReplyDeleteIs it really running in an A500???
ReplyDeleteWow. This looks great, especially when compared with earlier work. Graphics are top-notch and overall speed seems brilliant. So much going on! Can't wait for the other levels!
ReplyDeleteYes, it runs on an Amiga 500.
ReplyDelete...and finally! A great port on par with the x68000 and fm-towns versions! Good use of colours, great animations, great playability! A great effort which demonstrates that amiga 500 conversions can be amazing without being just a mere emulation from arcade but can be done right using the hardware limitations of the machine! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so good! Today is possible to grab the arcade graphics and that helps a lot in a conversion but by God the old version was really bad... This version is smooth as butter! Going to try this tomorrow! Thx
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic, its so smooth to play on my 500
ReplyDeleteThat's one hell of a port that should provide other coders how things have to be done on limited hardware like the A500 (Outrun anybody?)
ReplyDeleteI actually loved the ST/Amiga version but obviously the arcade version blows them away. This version looks great...I think I would probably buy a hard copy of this too...
ReplyDeleteCould you please re-upload the demo to another Mirror? The original link is dead, and the Mirror says 0 downloads left.
ReplyDeleteTry the updated links - Fixed :)
DeleteThanks!
DeleteIt's looking excellent !
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone it's a great port.
ReplyDeleteNice, but you better make the water not green like the trees.
ReplyDeleteIf you are referring to the water in this first level, it is almost the same color in the arcade as well.
DeleteReally well done, practically the same as the arcade despite the color reduction ( perfectly chosen palette by the way), large play area, and fluidity of the game action excellent, which puts this version far above the Amiga original. After downloading the demo I played it for more than 2 hours straight despite there being only the first level, and that gives me the measure of how playable and enjoyable this conversion is. Again conmpliments for the work done, I can't wait for the game to be complete.
