Hypernoid Zero - This Cybernoid game looks amazing on the Amstrad CPC


If you had a ZX Spectrum, Atari ST, Amstrad CPC, C64, NES or Amiga, chances are you would've played ' Cybernoid '; a shoot 'em up published in 1987 by Hewson Consultants that is regarded by many as a great game with fabulous music by Jeroen Tel or Jochen Hippel (ST). Well if you do remember playing it back in the 80's, then you might be interested to know that as of right now, you can try play Hypernoid Zero by Bitplane Technomantes: A very high quality Amstrad CPC game which is inspired by that classic of Cybernoid.


Released at the Revision 2024 game compo by Bitplane Technomantes, this game with its inspirations to Cybernoid looks incredible. As not only does it have amazing graphics, but with feedback such on the pouet site such as "Where can the CPC go from here? This is perfection!" and "Saw this on the Revision stream. Looks absolutely fantastic. Great work everyone involved!", we can pretty much say that Hypernoid Zero is a game not to be missed if you have an Amstrad CPC.

  4. the artist really likes horizontal lines. Looks nice though. There was another solid Cybernoid clone on Amstrad a few years ago. Kernal something.

    1. It requires 128KB of RAM, so unfortunately it won't run on a standard CPC464.

Do you remember Dusan Milivojevic’s "Moonspire II " ( C64) project by RGCD that was abandoned after some preview was C64Scene"mistreated" - τηατ ισ when an early preview was uploaded to CSDB in which unfortunately 75% of the rest of the game levels we’re hidden in the cartridge image - and of course, when it was ‘cracked’, those half-finished, broken levels were found and unlocked . https://www.rgcd.co.uk/2019/05/moonspire-ii-commodore-64.html https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=88595
    Well beside the obvious connection that both projects share "Rexbeng/PA" of " Bitplane Technomantes" the same graphics man, its obvious they share not only the style and genre but -and thats an estimated guess- maybe a part of Moonspire II graphics design and game mechanics .
    So it makes me wonder if "Hypernoid Zero" might actually be kind of "MoonSpire" successor or at least inherited certain Moonspire assets in terms of graphics,game design ,a choice which as a retro gamer i consider a very "good practice" for assets that otherwise would be forever lost in the purgatory of the uncompleted/unreleased games .

  7. Care, seems don't works in a real Amstrad CPC 6128. After loading screen remains in black screen with red borders.

    1. That indicates a file read error. You can press space to retry, but it wont work from a mass storage expansion that needs the firmware in place.

  8. Euh....Is this just a bad hack of Cybernoid I with bad graphics, that's all! Just the music is something different, but not even as good.

  9. Please... This kind of comment is not constructive at all. There are a lot of high skill programming work into this Hypernoid game. You can't compare it to a hack of Cybernoid, except for trolling.
