Get ready for some great Monday news! As Liqmatrix was kind enough to inform us in our inbox, about the latest release of Jixa Lady Tiger by Oscar Celestini SHOP. A game that isn't just a nod to Vixen, which was a platformer published by Martech in 1988 for the Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, MS-DOS, and ZX Spectrum. But this PC game looks super cool as it was developed in a C64 styled palette. To coincide with this news, make sure to check out the latest screenshots and gameplay footage, as I think you'll agree, it does look good.
And here's the full details from the website. "Jixa Lady Tiger is a nostalgic game created using c64 palette. You are a whip-wielding young female warrior who can transform into a ferocious tiger. Is inspired by the old game Vixen who featured a blonde woman with the ability to morph into a fox".
Features:
- -Keyboard or Joypad controls (press K or J);
- -Fight with your whip or run and jump like a tiger;
- -CRT filter available for a perfect nostalgic feeling;
- - Four different areas made of 3 stages each;
- - 4 dangerous bosses;
- -Intro, intro levels and ending artworks;
- -Password system unlocking each new area.
- -Original Sound Track by Simone Pietro Rincione +cover artwork (digital download)
Nice, simple, good looking game.
ReplyDeleteThat's an AI Generated Content game.

ReplyDeleteReally Good this pc game, the C64 palette looks Great and very nice all sprites/backgrounds ! (^ò^)
I like it.
ReplyDeleteCan the C64 hsdle it with REU?
ReplyDeleteLooking at recent titles like "Age of heroes or Metal Warrior/Hessian series or a lot older titles like Shinobi or First Samurai or even (having in mind the huge bosses) Rubicon it is certainly C64 doable without even a REU , just with some small graphical compromises here and there.
DeleteThere is an interresing discussion about use of AI on the games itch.io page, mainly for the intro/screens, but a good thing to discuss in the pixel dev community.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I see nothing wrong with using AI for pixel arts - not just intro screen but in-game as well. It's just another time and money-saving tool, and as long as the 'artist' source the engine used it's all the same to me. So I don't really understand the fuss (unless the fuss is about the author claiming to do it 100% by hand).
DeleteBesides, most of the time there needs to be some sort of human intervention as the AI does not always generate the image you want. So it's not like there's zero work done.
@JB3000 100% agree. It's just another tool in the toolbox and it's an awesome one at that.
ReplyDeleteThat title screen reminds me of the DOS game Vixen. Nothing wrong with that of course. Heh. This is an 80286 PC I restored years ago with the title screen showing: https://www.vogons.org/download/file.php?id=42301&mode=view
ReplyDeleteWell, sh1t, if I'd read the damn game description I would have seen it's inspired by Vixen. Doh!
