In 2015 we gave a special mention to Retream's Arcade platformer of ' QUOD INIT EXIT ', a C64 game that had a cute little pig, lots of fast moving fruit and was so colourful you would've been silly not to load it up on a C64. Well fast forward to today, and after 9 years in the making (with lots of articles too), the piggy sequel of QUOD INIT EXIT IIo has arrived. An awesome C64 game that can be viewed in the last footage by the developer and Saber!
When we featured QUOD INIT EXIT IIm which is the minimal-sized (16 kB) sequel to QUOD INIT EXIT, we said that the game was overall an extremely addictive brand new game for your C64. Well if you loved QUOD INIT EXIT and it's smaller sized sequel, you'll be pleased to know that this version of the game as llo is not just a much bigger game. But it has colorful high resolution background and sprites, full screen, free-positional sub-pixel 50 fps scrolling, a smoothly animated main character, cool background animations huge maps, and a hilarious introduction and ending in the form of short stories!
Main Features :
- original gameplay
- 5 zones of increasing difficulty

This has a very nice clean look.
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome! Will there be a physical release?
ReplyDeleteAs much as I would love to hold a physical package of this creature of mine in my hands and even if I received various requests and a proposal from a publisher, there will not be a physical release: it isn't necessary to enjoy the game, so it's best to save the resources that producing and distributing it would require, given the environmental emergency the world is in.
DeleteA beautiful answer, all the best to you. And the game seems like a blast too; never owned a C64 but this game seems like a highly polished jewel. Love that you chose a pig as the player character (some of the most mistreated people on the planet).
DeleteThanks for the understanding and the appreciation of the game!
DeleteIt's a long and complex joke among a group of friends of mine that led to the choice of the pig as the hero.
Great to see Extended mode in a game
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many C64 platformer are out there that have a)with huge area to explore b)that with fast and d) multi directional scrolling d)flicker free with some kind of dynamic lightning and that has simultaneously all 16 c64 colors on screen (if i am not mistaken in certain levels) and with carefully balanced, calibrated control system for a platform genre game ?
ReplyDeleteCertainly less than 10 ,maybe less than 5 such C64 platformers i guess.
How many of these developed by a single person ?
