A very late night article for all you retro gamers, as an exciting new addition has appeared for the Commodore Amiga called ARC4NERD, a classic arcade-style title packed with distinct "Ruhrpott" charm. Created by developer HooGames2017 with publishing by APC&TCP through the Amiga Future website, this game is available now as both a boxed physical edition and a digital download, following in the footsteps of previous community favorites Dr. Dangerous and Phantom Leap.
Released to coincide with the Amiga Ruhrpott Convention 4, ARC4NERD is a classic brick-breaker in the Arkanoid style, infused with a healthy dose of Ruhr area charm and humour. Set against a gritty, industrial backdrop typical of Germany's Ruhr region, players must use either a mouse or a joystick to control a movable reflector. The goal is to deflect an Amiga boing ball to shatter every tile in the level. Standing in your way are various obstacles and moving drone-copters. To help clear the board, players can catch randomly falling 3.5" floppy disks that grant powerful special abilities, including a laser gun and a triple-boing ball. Pinball-style bumpers are also scattered throughout the stages to help boost your high score.
The game features more than 55 distinct levels, each dedicated to a supporter of the Amiga Ruhrpott Convention, promising hours of retro fun. Surviving the arcade stages leads to a dramatic final boss encounter—a showdown that no ARC attendee should miss! ;-) Please note: This main release should not be confused with the Special Edition of ARC4NERD. That version was strictly limited, exclusive to the Amiga Ruhrpott Convention event, and is now completely sold out.
