Indie Retro News teams up with Xyphoe!

As if this year couldn't get any better, but after previously teaming up with Retro Asylum and then Novabug, we are now teaming up with Xyphoe! If you've never heard of Xyphoe before, his videos are very similar to Novabug's, in the fact that he does retro gaming longplays, reviews and more, all with clear to understand vocabulary and enjoyable enough to keep coming back for more. In fact as a first teaser before he gets the hang of our little editor, here's a video to keep you occupied ' [ARCADE / MAME] Hunchback - Longplay & Review '.

Indie Retro News teams up with Novabug (RetroUnlim)

On Monday we teamed up with the top quality Podcast ' Retro Asylum ', which is regarded as the number 1 Retro Podcast, that chats about non stop retro gaming. But I decided to take our site even further, and as from today we have now teamed up with Novabug, from Retro Unlim. If you've never heard of Novabug, he does very good retro gaming Youtube videos, playing and talking through games that many of us grew up on. Not just that, but he will also be writing articles for us and posting his videos here. As a teaser to what to expect, check out his latest video below 5-10 Minutes of Gameplay - Dr Doom's Revenge [Amstrad CPC].

The world of Streets of Rage - My kick ass thoughts

The world of Streets of Rage, Write a review they said. I'll do Streets of Rage I said. I used to enjoy playing it, it will be fun and easy I said! Wow! How I underestimated that. Streets of rage 2 has to be one of my most favourite games EVER! So I do apologise to folks reading this if some biasing comes along during this article.

Twin Robots - Teamwork based puzzle platformer

Lately I've been playing the game Twin Robots by Pablo Rojo, the developer behind Thinice in which you play a pair of robots who have to make it through various platforming levels full of dangerous hazards to fully charge a battery at the end of the level which in turn opens the exit.

Dragon Warrior : Do you have the balls to retrieve the Balls of Light?"

Every gamer has or will have several personal firsts as part of their gaming experience. We all remember the first time we saved Princess Toadstool in Super Mario Bros, or the first video game we ever completed. Some of us remember the first time we played a game that was unlike anything else we had ever seen before. For many gamers, that game was Dragon Warrior.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III : The Manhattan Project - A hit beat 'em up on the NES!

If you could choose one Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video game to play for the rest of your life, what would you choose? If you said TMNT IV: Turtles in Time you may need to go back and play TMNT III: The Manhattan Project, perhaps the best beat ‘em up on the NES and I’ll wager the best TMNT video game.

Faxanadu: Daggers and wingboots, mantras and monsters await you

There are many retro video games that are fun to play for someone new to the experience. There are your basic platformers, platforming shooters, shoot’em-ups, and action-adventure titles. Few games though, can be considered gateways both to an interest in video games and to an entire genre of entertainment. Faxanadu is one of those games.

Golden Axe - A retro look back at a classic beat 'em up

Now where's my Horn of Mead wench? After playing Golden Axe, I am definitely feeling my inner barbarian. This great game from Sega was almost a world apart from the game we have come to know and love. Originally inspired by the 1982 film Conan the Barbarian (staring our old friend Arni), mixed with the Traditional Korean Folk Tale "Golden Axe Silver Axe" also known as "The honest woodsman", Golden Axe was intended to be an RPG game with ornate graphics giving an inspiring journey. Sega however, weren't keen on this idea but loved the character concepts. Since, at the time, the main money making was in the Arcade, Sega knew, they needed a game that had a faster pace.

Secrets of Grindea - Action RPG first Impressions & beta playthrough

PixelFerrets was kind enough to provide us with an early teaser for Secrets of Grindea and through most of this afternoon I was giving the game a quick playthrough. A game described as an Action RPG that is inspired by the classic Action RPG SNES titles of the past. From the initial load up you can customize your character, giving him that style to your liking which it gives it that little bit of edge over other SNES titles and really adds to the personality of the game. But it's not until you actually get into Grindea you realise just how good and retro this game looks, it's a thing of beauty for SNES fans!

My playthrough of "Gone Home" - May contain spoilers!

Hey everyone, I know this game is not exactly brand new but it's on sale for half price on steam so I thought I would give it a go. I had never heard of this game before and the videos all pointed towards a horror game and I loooove horror ;), so anyway, I have just played through this amazing game, I literally finished it just minutes ago and I had to talk about it! I haven't felt this way about a game in a long time in fact I haven't felt this way since I played Half Life 2 on the Xbox so it's been a while.

"Gone Home" was created by 'The Fullbright Company' a group of people (Steve Gaynor, Karla Zimonja, and Johnnemann Nordhagen) who worked together during the development of 'BIOSHOCK'

Ok enough about who made it.

The Game!
